>The miku games are even more expensive, jesus christ it's like 60 bucks used
Don't buy Diva X. It's only got a handful of decent songs you're expected to grind repeatedly, and whole lot of bullshit and poor design. I've failed songs in Hard Mode that I 100% Perfected, simply because I didn't want to (or forgot) to load my character down with a bunch of ugly clashing joke accessories (out of a limited pool of accessories that are aligned with the sphere of the song you're playing). It's also one of the easiest titles in the franchise once you capitulate to the voltage modifier system. It's only good if you were dumb enough to buy VR like me and want to look up digital skirts, but even then it cockblocks you by blacking out the model - giving you just a brief flash of panties.
Future Tone, however, is digital only - and that bullshit aside, is actually a quality title that's much closer to being worth the money. There's no Diva Room bullshit, no forcing you to go through normal mode to unlock songs/difficulties, no randomized module grind/hunting. It's an Arcade game, and it plays like one. Emphasis on high-scores and gameplay, not on padding out useless non-game content. The game comes in three parts - the "Base/Demo" with two songs for free. Then two expansion packs, Future Sound and Colorful Tone, which contain 100+ songs for $30 each. So for the standard price of a new release, you're getting over 220 songs and a fuckton of modules. You don't need both packs, so if you only want to spend $30, then just get Future Sound which has most of the iconic songs. You'll probably want to get Colorful Sound at some point later too, maybe during a sale.
The only place it really rips you off is the DLC. There, you only get like 14 songs for a little over $30 bucks or so, and a handful of modules. If you want the whole thing, you'd probably be better waiting to see if they port a physical copy of Future Tone DX.
