I have a huge fondness for games with fun homing projectiles like Starfox and Panzer Dragon. Even better is when you can lock onto a target, turn 45 degrees, then fire the projectile and have it travel in an arc. Does anyone have some games I can try with more of this? Bonus for rail shooters that aren't a SHMUP like Raiden or Ikargua.

Turok 2 had the cerebral bore, Perfect Dark's rocket launcher would be more fun if it didn't induce so much fps drop.

Those EDF games had a thing where one player could dual wield big ass missile launchers that require another player to paint a target with a laser before the missiles could be launched. They took an obscene amount of time to lock on, though.

I was gonna mention the cerebral bore, but without the ammo chest you run out fast. I should probably add that a high ammo count also gets bonus points. There weren't more weapons that homed, were there? I remember lots of hit scan weapons.

Earthworm Jim 2 had literal homing missiles

HookTube embed. Click on thumbnail to play.

Sin and Punishment is pretty much built around this, where you can reflect incoming missiles back with your gunsword to wherever you're aiming for massive damage.

I am so mad but want to give this a try.

Looks neat, I'll check it out.

In this day and age we need more games like this, retarded humour that attracts shitposters and keeps SJW's away

It was strangely satisfying in Contra III to get the homing rockets, then point the gun straight up in the air when shooting at all times.

But Tumblr creams its pants over stupid puns.

In a weird inversion of this healing spells in FF12 home in to your party with a really satisfying effect. I wish more games had stuff like that.

Bonus points if you got the pun in the enemy Jim's shooting at.

It's a Blunderpus. Octopus holding a Blunderbuss

X and X-2 both have great visual effects, I will give them that. A game about catching and throwing orbiting energy balls in a game of dodgeball that launch and home would be my most favorite game ever.

The homing shots in Nier 1 and Zone of the Enders were pretty satisfying to shoot. How would you describe those types of homing shots? Is 'radially-homing' an accurate term to describe them? The deck of cards in American Mcgee's Alice were also homing if my memory serves right, or maybe is was just the secondary fire of the cards that homed in.

>>14662438

On that note, Raven's "Love Shot" in Tales of Vesperia has up to three arrows (depending on usage count) that arc into the air and across the field, seeking out allies to heal. There's even a sort of priority ranking to them, in that they'll seek out injured girls in the party first, then Repede (a dog), then any other males, and then Raven himself. This priority matters more while the arte is at low usage, since he'll only fire a single healing arrow initially.

Haseo's Skeith Rank 4 in .hack//G.U. gets something similar as far as a spread beam goes. To be fair though Skeith is only usable for Avatar Battles and if memory serves by that point in Redemption, there's only one left after unlocking that level of Skeith.

It may take forever, but seeing literal ICBMs launch out of someone's back and watching them slowly fly and blow up into a gigasized explosion that gibs everything a mile within is really something everyone has to experience.

There's also also these really cool missile launchers that lockon on a fuckhuge range and fires them far into the air and then they plunge into the targets.
