Any of you guys know any good tech support forum specifically for vidya?
I got a PS3 off of eBay yesterday, I got it specifically because it was a cecha01, the one old launch version that's 100% backwards compatible with PS and PS2. I set it up, and at first it works perfectly. I try out Asura's Wrath. Then I grab a random PS game, the longbox ones were closer so I put in Kileak. Played that for like an hour before I forced myself to switch to a PS2 game. I grabbed Trapt. Now I should mention that PS1 saved fine but the PS2 internal memory card wasn't recognized. Also Asura's Wrath required some updates and restarts.
I notice right away the ratio has switched with Trapt to 4:3. As It's playing out the opening cut scene I think "Well, I guess if I get an adapter and pull my data off my old memory cards I can completely retire the PS2 except for using swapmagic to play PAL format games. Wait… is the PS3 region locked?" So I try to exit out of the game, but in my hurry I forget all about the home button and turn the PS3 off by flipping the power switch on the back. I turn it back on and… no signal.
I've tried the video reset method of holding the power button town for two beeps, three beeps and four beeps. One time I got grainy pixels, but still no signal. I'm not sure what I need to reset or fix. I tried switching from HDMI to AV, still no signal.
What else can I even do? All my other systems still work fine on my tv. All I can think to try is connecting the PS3 to my laptop to see if the HDMI works on that.
