With a new SEGA AGES focusing more on Master System games, tackling hard hitters like Phantasy Star and Thunder Force IV, and even covering games such as Gain Ground and the less talked about Sonic (for SMS) I got to wondering what else would be a good contribution from SEGAS pre-Mega Drive library.

Personally I think throwing Golvellius, Body Slam, or Cyber Shinobi in would be a nice addition of less popular titles.

What about you, /v/? What pre-Mega Drive or pre-System 32 games would you like to see added personally or think would be a good addition?

Well I fucked up

It's the MD Sonic so it barely can be called a focus on SMS when only 3/5 of the announced games are for SMS.

I'm still interested to hear what pre-MD games anons would like to see come to a collection like this.

That version has barely any of the same levels and another era entirely. Along with not being 3-player I'd say it's different enough from the arcade game to be considered it's own game with the same name, and not a port like the MD and other versions. Kind of like how the SMS Ninja Gaiden is a different game with the same name as the NES Ninja Gaiden.

Oh yeah the Disney games would be a great addition. Lucky Dime Caper and the Illusion games are solid games. I agree with Wonder Boy being a good addition and also it being a bit saturated in the market at the time being. Maybe it would be appropriate with that Monster Boy game (supposedly an official sequel to the series) coming out some time this year

I'm glad you corrected me, I've been eager to play the arcade version itself and I'm not aware of any ports that don't scroll or squeeze the image to account for the different screen dimensions

Selling roms is not new, but it comes bundled with digital goodies that you can't just easily download from somewhere, why not?

PS2 Sega Ages did it right.

But, they already did Phantasy Star in the first Sega Ages. Why the fuck are they bothering retreading old ground (which probably is just a straight ROM port rather than a remake, right?) when they could be finishing what they started and giving us a PSIV remake and a PSIII remake that follows Toyo Ozaki's art direction (the more Sailor Moon stuff, please… the technical stuff is pretty good, but doesn't have the same charm).

This is by the same team as before, so you'll be getting a portable version of the Sega Ages Phantasy Star, except with even more stuff because M2 always adds something more- for an example, seems Sonic 1 comes with Drop Dash this time around.

At least TF4 has been announced to have the extra TF3 ship added into the Saturn port. They did consider Saturn games later on, possibly starting with titles already on PS2 Ages.
