Picrealted was a ton of fun but I just couldn't get over the ass-backwards camera controls. Frankly the fact that I've not seen anyone else complain about them makes me suspect this is one of those games a handful of people on /v/ have actually played and the rest big up based on word of mouth.

It being old doesn't excuse bad decisions in control schemes. Plenty of other games from the same time and even the generation before managed it.

>Every game in the series has sexy older women

>Can't have. Ever.

Seriously though, the runey system in Rune Factory Frontier has to the most anti-fun mechanic I've seen in a game that can single-handedly ruin anyone's joy. Due to plot, there are 4 elemental spirits in every territory that you must maintain the balance for but it's a suicidal food chain where one of the spirits always gets fucked. Gathering and distributing said spirits is a dull, slow, and repetitive task to do.

If you ignore it, you can completely fuck your save to the point where you might as well start the game over. It's such a simple problem to fix too. Just make it so collecting and distributing the little fucks is a much more simple task. There is a character in the game who can control these elemental spirits so they should have made it where you can have her distribute them in mass.

>>14642611

It depends on where you're at. The camera can get into some bad places in narrow hallways or small rooms. The catacomb stages are a great example of the bad camera in NGB. Even then it was only in a few areas or when you shove your body in a corner and only really see above you.

>The lack of direct companion control really drags Neverwinter Nights down.

This was due to the game being designed around multiplayer. It was originally supposed to be an mmo that they shifted to a singleplayer game really late into development

956ff8 No.14659421

File: 5b8820b8c2cedf2⋯.jpg (488.35 KB, 3244x2136, 811:534, carbon.jpg)

The police pursuits offer no meaning to the story and only exist because they did in most wanted. In most wanted, to progress the game and the story, you had to complete both race events and complete pursuit challenges, and acquire a certain bounty to challenge the blacklist rival.

In carbon, to challenge a boss to a race, you just have to win events and claim each risk-style block of their territory.

Most wanted made the rivals feel like a street-racing gang where notoriety was important to their status, in addition to their jacked-up car where as in carbon, the bosses aren't much than a person who has a color-coordinated group of followers.

It really upsets me that pursuits have no meaning in this game, and that it's possible to beat the game without being in one, minus the one the game puts you into at the start.

Thus, why MW:05 > Carbon

Don't mention underground, both are great games and are equally as good, just underground2 is more of underground.

c336cf No.14659449

>>14659421

I would also say the game generally lacks the same player motivation as Most Wanted

Since in MW you feel compelled to beat it to get the player's car back. Which you lost at the start of the game

Whereas in Carbon no such motivation exists. It's similar to UG2 where you just have a vague villain you forget about.

956ff8 No.14659466

>>14659449

Carbon is about helping darius out by taking out the other crews, it isn't until the last bit does he become a villain. but he does dress in red, drive a red audi, is with your ex-gf who drives a red GT he bought her. So I mean….

In underground2 it's a similar thing, but if you skipped the cutscenes (I did when I was young and stupid) you miss a lot, you really did. But yeah, Mostwanted had a real vibe in it. Replaying it again for the hell of it.

I don't remember vic being so tough to beat with taz's lexus

It's not something that can be fixed without radically breaking things. Since it would make most mods completely incompatible in the process since you'd need to radically change the interface, scripting and so forth. And more people are going to be angry about that.

No they don't. The best they can do is let you direct all of your companions to attack a specific enemy. You still can't control them individually, use their spells or abilities, or choose what spells they have.

>It's not something that can be fixed without radically breaking things. Since it would make most mods completely incompatible in the process since you'd need to radically change the interface, scripting and so forth.

I don't think that's true. If it were, Beamdog would have said that. Instead, they basically said "We don't like singleplayer, so fuck you."

>And more people are going to be angry about that.

I doubt it. A *lot* of people want it.

I played hundreds of hours in each of the Ninja Gaiden 1 Black / Sigma, and Ninja Gaiden 2 Vanilla / Sigma, beaten master ninja in all of them.

Made a big list of a bunch of things I saw in changes between the games. Though I never really finished the list for NG2 comparisons, I slapped together some of my notes here.

In the end, it's all going to come down to personal preference. Sigma usually improves on most things, but then screws up somewhere else that it feels like a side grade overall. There were a few good improvements Sigma 1 had and it kept the core of the game the same that were overall…just good improvements! Like press up on directional pad to use healing item without having to pause action to go into menu = faster paced combat and better flow than in Black, but Sigma has longer loading / saving times which hurt that fast paced flow.

The Fiendish challenge in Sigma in the arena was killer, because the berserkers were TONS more deadlier. NG2 vanilla had more enemies on screen that were weaker, NGS2 Sigma had fewer enemies that were stronger (so much so that in master mode a regular enemy's throw would usually kill you). This time, it was the Test Of Valor in NG2 Vanilla that were over the top in terms of difficulty, where you had to use the right strategy of always blocking + moving and playing SUPER defensively just to win when playing master mode. I think the only practical way to beat sone of the fiendish challenges in NG2 Vanilla was to destroy the bodies of some enemies (but not kill them) so that they would crawl around while you killed their buddies for ten minutes straight (and always holding down the block button).

Check out

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SLP7lmf0VDk

You see those blue flying monsters that are always shooting missiles at you for the 20 minutes you're doing the test of valor? They normally shoot twice as fast, but the guy destroyed one out of their two rocket launcher packs then doesn't kill them, so they slow down how fast they spam rockets.

Overall, I think I prefer Sigma for NG1, and Vanilla for NG2. They had the best pacings I feel. Though, NG2 Sigma had more characters & costumes.
