I'm in the process of swapping my two monitors for different stuff. I only got one of the new monitors so far. My case is beat up, so I'm going to get a new one next month with a better interior/tooling to fit more stuff. I might go full addressable RGB gimmick with some Corsair LL fans + RGB LED strips putting on a fancy light show in the case, but I dunno. I need to upgrade the reservoir in my water cooling loop to something bigger as well. Lots of things in my setup will be changing over the next few weeks.

I like the guessing game aspect of those threads, but it's better if the product came with a game code or something you can share to give the thread more value. I haven't seen one in ages so I assume those get deleted. The last time I did one was probably over a year ago. It was initially deleted, then allowed, then deleted after it was over. I got myself a set the other month and it feels great to be able to move my screen around to where ever I want and easily rotate them to portrait. Also the desk space is really nice to have.

I'm there. Can't even post a picture of it because my brother uses this site and he'd recognize my room and doesn't know the squalor I live in. I worked retail and thought my depression was due to my unfulfilling, underpaying work. So I got a manufacturing gig because I thought that if I'm actually making something, I can feel like I'm contributing to society in some way instead of being nothing. And it paid better. But it leaves me physically exhausted, so I get home and just want to browse the internet for a while and then sleep 14 hours until my next shift. I haven't done dishes in six months so I buy fast food or shit that has its own dish like a TV dinner. But that makes trash which piles up, and it quickly got to the point where cleaning it up would be a full-day project. I spent most of this weekend sleeping. I had planned to do some work on my car but got slammed with snow and freezing rain and just said "fuck it" cause I'm not giving myself fucking hypothermia to fix a squeaky belt and a rust hole.

Also, try and hop in the shower when you get home after work, being clean yourself will make you want to live in a clean environment.

You also don't get a new setup every year. While I paid about $3,500 for my current rig, it has lasted me for 5 years. You also don't have to get an all-new rig when you upgrade. If you shop smart and know the hardware specs of your current machine, you may be able to just skate by with a video card upgrade. However, it is sometimes likely that you will also need a new mainboard which could mean new CPU, and RAM. New mainboard could mean new case.

A common thing is to do blast some shitty slice of life anime while you play a more laid back game on the other monitor. Neither of which require much attention but combined they feel really good.
You can also read on one monitor and a play a game on the other, you won't be able to pay serious attention to what you're reading so you can't read a proper book but you can read shitposts or other unimportant things without closing your game.
You can emulate games while playing something else on the main screen and switching during load screens and whatnot. I myself have played through the first final fantasy entirely during need for speed underground loadscreens way back in 2005 or so.
You can do those things without a second screen, but a second screen increases your productivity. I remember when I was 16~ and my parents took away my second monitor with the bogus reason of "you can only click one screen at a time", I used to play turn based games while reading random history books inbetween turns (they aren't nearly as involved as something with a plot) and that made me drop them entirely until I moved out.
With a single monitor alt tabbing is too inefficient because you have to tab in and tab out whereas with 2 you just have to look to the side. 2 monitors also allow you more desktop space so you're not juggling windows in and out of view nearly as often.

my ultrawide main monitor is super bright and i can't stand it at night after a while if i am not gaming, even in reading mode it just red shifts but still hurts, i was going to sell the other one but decided to kept it, the second monitor has a great reading mode that can get even dimmer with f.lux or windows night light and its great for long nights browsing or shitposting, that and the other reasons mentioned is why i keep two, but i really dont see a case where i would ever have a need for 3 monitors unless my job demanded it
