I watched some streams of this game. It's more accessible than Justbreakers because like other battle royale games most players can get some satisfaction from running around, looting and getting random kills. In contrast Justbreakers is not casual friendly even after they made it into a bullet sponge game. However I got bored of watching it very quickly and I could see the streamers were too. Speeding everything up could improve that situation somewhat.
The worst part is the map. It’s extremely shitty. Yes it's unfinished but there's nothing interesting there. The interiors of many buildings are identical for example. At least PUBG has some memorable terrain and features. The characters and weapons are very boring and generic too but at least they’re not offensive like Justbreakers.
The shills will always wheel out the "it's early access" argument to deflect all criticism but it was clearly a mistake to release it in this state. Players will get bored of it quickly. Why should they keep coming back when they’ve already been burnt out by a lacklustre experience? Personally I can’t stand any game with a third person mode like this. It’s essentially cheating to be able to look around corners or obstacles without exposing yourself. That makes it unplayable in my eyes but that sort of faggotry hasn’t hurt other games.

Another problem is that game genre fads are over shockingly quick these days. CoD style games maintained popularity for a decade, whereas Overwatch hasn't even been out for two years, yet hero shooter style games are dead on arrival now. Even with the AAA approach of tossing as many devs as possible at a project to complete it as quickly as possible they still can't manage to release a game in time to capitalize on the fad before it dies. It seems like Fortnight is the only Battle Royale shooter that made it on time and that's only because it was a game that was already completed before BR style games got popular, they just shifted around assets a little bit and done.

They've been dead on arrival since Overreach came out. The thing about hero shooters is that nobody really wants them and the only reason anyone bought it is because Blizzard made it and they want to extract the models for porn. If the genre had any demand there would've been at least a few decently sized competitors, assuming you don't count TF2.

BF, Rainbow Siege, Titanfall. Also it can be argued that Destiny and CoD games are awfully close to the hero type of shooters with all their customization even if they don't call themselves as such. +Warframe but it has PvE focus so it doesn't count.

Vidya and home computers exploded in the 90s too. After that, you really didn't have to go out to have fun anymore. A lot of people got used to sitting around at home. Kids grew up with just staying home and then those kids started having kids, who only really know that. Kids are fat as fuck in general, but there are still a good number of them out there that go out and play. There are adults that work out a lot, but there are just more people that don't. Then you had the sjw outburst and then being fat was beautiful rather than something to be worked on.
Having said that, Schwarzenegger and Stallone are on the extreme end of that muscular spectrum. Willis wasn't that big and he came off as more of an everyday man. Paxton was very down to Earth as well in terms of his physique. Wrestling still had kayfabe, so a lot of wrestlers were looked up to as well. As soon as we start entering the 90s, rap started taking over with Eminem being lanky as fuck. 2000s approached and then every kid was connected via the internet and smart phones. Pretty soon, the cancer of the big cities like San Fran and New York was all over the country.

Overwatch suceeded BECAUSE TF2 went to shit.
People wanted "TF2 but not shit" for years.
Neither Valve nor another developer took up the idea until warframe kicked up some dust.
TF2 dropped down to 25% of it's playerbase when Overwatch launched, Steamforums were in PANICK because the game might die.
Alarmist crap of course, it didn't die that would be a small mercy. and Overwatch slowly lost some of it's popularity when it was spread to other hero shooters until the market normalized again.
You gotta understand that this "fads" are caused by a very specific group of people.
When Overwatch launched, you had essentially two groups of people playing it.
Folks who found it fun and enjoyed it (yes these exist).
And folks who wanted the [NEW THING].
This last group is MASSIVE and constantly jump from [NEW THING] to [NEWER THING] because that's what they do. Some might even be somewhat invested (not just finnancially, but also in time, public bragging, competitive scene) but will sooner or later drop it for something new.
Case in point, PUBG is the [NEWER THING] right now and if you have friends that played Overwatch you'll notice many of them migrated to it aswell.
This sort of people are not reasonable, they can't hold an actual discussion about their shit taste and consumer practices and the best you can do is ignore them.
I stick to U2k4 with friends for competitive weekends, Overwatch for casual mindless fun and TF2 when I get a spot of nostalgia.
PUBG and this new sort of "Battle Royale" games simply look too shitty, boring and SLOW AS FUCK to even interest me. And I'm the sort of people that gives shit games a try on the off chance they do SOMETHING right.
Can't say Radical Heights/PUBG or that other Arma mod did anything correctly from a "videogame" point of view.

I have a feeling that no matter how terrible the game is the battle royale fad is going too strong for it to fail. Maybe in 6+ months we'll see it drift away but for now it could actually remain popular even if its total trash quality wise
