This is the most "THIS IS A VIDEO GAME" game I've seen in a long while but the mechanics of traversing the city were pretty fucking fun. It's never coming to PC for a proper resolution bump is it? It probably flopped too because it was a Bone exclusive right when they shotgunned themselves in the dick with "always online, get a 360 if you can't afford internet faggot".
The humor is really fucking terrible at times but there were highlights and for once many of the female characters didn't feel forced in, felt like an older PS2 Insomniac or ND Jak game where everyone was cringey as fuck but there didn't feel like an agenda. No matter how Reddit tier (they literally referenced both it and NeoFag in the game) the quips were I was in nirvana just grinding, air dashing and bouncing everywhere like a monkey paw wish forged a new Tony Hawk game penned by faggots.

Did you play the game? The rail grinding was trash, yet you are forced to use it. If you are bouncing back and forth between a small area, it might be fine, but if you aren't paying attention, you are flubbing around the rail like an idiot around weirdly placed corners. This happens easily when you're focused on killing the enemy but are taken out of the action because you need to continually grind. If you walk around on the ground, you are an easy target for enemies since the game wasn't designed for it.

What the fuck is that even supposed to mean? The most videogame videogame? What criteria does that follow, because when I think of videogames "that feel like videogames" - I think of arcade titles. Loud, colorful and bombastic, over-the-top, and generally very unique titles designed to give you the maximum amount of fun in as short amount of time as possible to encourage you to either pump in more quarters or move the fuck on. Arcades are terrible places, out of the way, usually filled with niggers and screaming kids, smelling of B.O., cigarette smoke, and stale food ground into the carpet. They had to be as fun as possible to get you in there - and then, once there… they had to compete with each other over your pocket change.
Sunset Overdrive might be a good game, I dunno. I'm not about to buy an Xbox to find out. But to me it just looks like someone jammed a third person shooter into a much better game like Jet Grind Radio and then stripped out most of it's quirkyness to make it more appealing to beer swilling chads.

I grew up with arcades and arcade design, so to me - for something to feel like a video game, you have to be able to start it up and be in-gameplay in less than 10 seconds and have full access to the vast majority of gameplay mechanics (or at least core mechanics) from the first frame. No long cutscenes, no up-it's-own-ass unskippable storyline or exposition dumps, no laborious tutorials. Proper video games put as little between you and the game as possible, while providing only the baseline of context to justify why the mechanics are what they are.
I get that not every game can achieve arcade levels of design elegance, but any game which prioritizes those aspects of design is on the right track in my book. For instance, games should always teach you mechanics by having you do them in the context of the game - with as little direct explanation as possible, and certainly not with a text-menu that pauses gameplay.

I was in a Toys R Us a few weeks ago during their going out of business sale and I went and checked out the electronics section on the off chance that they actually had something worth buying for cheap. They were completely cleaned out except for over 30 copies of sunset overdrive. Every other game was gone, even the old WiiU games they still had with the other Nintendo shit.

I got an xbone for Christmas last year from my father. I decided it was better to keep it even though I probably would never have bought one myself $200 - issues caused by returning it < potential enjoyment from it. Everything about it makes me remember just how much I hate Microsoft. I couldn't even boot the thing up without getting a patch, I couldn't claim the "free" 360 games from my (((gold))) sub also a gift without putting in credit card information, I have to reenter passwords I don't remember everytime I want to play something because it takes so long between sessions, I need to be online to boot into xbox classic games, I can't sign into online without being on the latest firmware, I think there were advertisements littered all over the homescreen when last I checked, and there are no fucking games to top it all off. Owning this console has given me a firm resolution that I will never support anything Microsoft does in the future.
