You realize there was a long time when a lot of people just said "Nintendo" as a generic term for video games right? Not just in the '80s, either. My parents bought me a Sega Genesis and would still come up to be and be ask if I'm "playing Nintendo." I'd get Sonic for Christmas and they'd say "I know you love those Nintendo games." Then I got an SNES eventually, in addition to the Genesis, and they would ask "which Nintendo are you playing?" And I know I'm not alone, I saw this happening at friends' houses and stuff. I even saw it well into the PS1 generation, despite that console outselling the N64.
Just because the N64 and Gamecube didn't do quite as well as Nintendo hoped (still very well though) doesn't mean Nintendo only got extremely popular with the Wii.

I have, or used to have, slight OCD. sometimes i had to pause and do my ritual to continue playing the game
This was prevalent before I did my intervention therapy, now it never happens.
I actually play video games to get away from anxiety which can trigger doing rituals, which can be mentally exhausting. Or used to, don't really have the issue anymore.
Once you vanquish something like OCD you feel like you can vanquish anything. All i can say is if you have OCD or anxiety issues, go see a therapist and do intervention. It's a BITCH in the beginning but then you are free. It's all biological and training the brain to deal with anxiety in a different way.
