Remember that one Karoshi game where the solution to one level was "play a music CD", and the dev had to change it because so many people didn't have a CD drive?

These days, games just play from mp3 files saved in your hard drive.

That's a bizarre one because it has both CD audio and regular for people without it. Both Hexen and Hexen II have MIDI as alternative while Heretic II just has CD audio or nothing.

Addition: Descent 2 has MIDI alts as well as CD audio. Dark Reign, MechWarrior 2 and Mercenaries just have CD audio (good stuff too).
Also since I feel like it, something from Warcraft 2.

Tomb Raider games on PS1 could have their audio played from CD.
I was just listening to CD rip of TR1 just now and it still gives me goosebumps. Those little trills that would play when you discover something, and the danger music that would kick in out of nowhere, that was great. Minimalist audio doesn't get the love it deserves.

Hate to be devil's advocate but soundless WebMs existed pre-exodus and not everyone's gonna want to recreate them with it (if it's not OC), or re-encode old GIFs for that matter. It's a stupid thing to complain about unless they're post-exodus.
There was actually a time some of us enjoyed 4chan and aren't so keen to trash years of memories over its current form.
d4537f No.14611568

Except that was 4 years ago and counting. Also not excusable anymore to have a soundless webm for any video that would normally have sound.

Depends. If they're from a modern game it's clearly from an unsavoury place. Still not all video needs sound. Also holy shit I just checked and they still don't allow audio WebMs? They literally have a thread for anime OPs with catbox links. That or the filesize limit is still tiny.

Skyward Sword did this. Its game box came with an extra CD containing orchestrated music not found within the game. A bonus gift, I guess.

Read above. Trent Reznor and NIN will always be on my top list even if I find something else I enjoy. Just been a big fan of them for a long time. That's not saying I won't enjoy anything else besides them though.
