>eventually get to the mission zone after spending ages fucking around
>half an hour battling npcs (and other humans?) at very low fps with second long hitches
>everyone is now dead, finally
>fly close to array and the ship begins to spas out, spinning at 100000 rpm
>eventually get it under control and climb out
>go into the array through a crawl way, the physics glitching out continously
>notices the array is already repaired, starts to get mad due to all that wasted time
>some bastard must have sneaked in during the battle and stole the mission
>works his way out after battling more insane physics glitches
>notices his ship is travelling away at high speed… a physics glitch?
>no, some fucker has stolen it
>starts to complain that he was sure he locked it
>notices the theif's empty ship, tries to steal it by glitching inside, doesn't work
>eventually figures out he's stranded
>kills himself

The smaller and cheaper the ship, the faster you can pull it again, so losing an Aurora isn't that big a deal. With griefing already being the way it is though, I wonder how they intend to implement the second part of the insurance mechanics, rare equipment.
Ship insurance is only supposed to recover the ship itself, and if you have rare stuff, those shouldn't be possible to insure and when lost, they're lost forever. Or so was the plan back in the day, wouldn't be surprised if they changed it by now.
922e00 No.14582213
>>14582122
If the timer was just on actually destroyed ships it might be a bit more acceptable, but it also applies to ships you've lost because of the game crashing. And you can pay credits to speed up the respawn but it costs thousands (in a patch where missions pay 100-300 credits and even tedious as fuck trip hauling cargo from a outskirt point of interest back to the main station will now only net you a few hundred in profit at the risk of not only losing your ship but the thousands of credits worth of cargo you've bought if you get a ctd during the flight.)
Even more fun, they've clowered the camera height in most cockpits this patch so now your view is filled with even more ancient CRT monitors and useless nonfunctional buttons instead of actually looking where you're going. But at least those space crappers have high res textures.

because persistence is only half added to the game, basically all the bad shit like fuel use, damage and missiles are in, while 'not instantly despawning and getting booted back to one of the two main stations (and your ship lost to oblivion) when ever you die or the game crashes' isn't added yet. The only way you don't lose a ship and suffer a respawn timer is if you actually bring it back to a proper landing pad first so the game can "store" it, or if you log off while in the bed of your ship (this feature doesn't work half the time) so a ctd while out in space means you'll always lose the ship.
The truly horrifying thing is, aside from losing your ship, this is exactly how the game is expected to work, unless you log out in your ship's bed, you will always log back in at the nearest large station instead of where you actually left the game at. Theoretically, the game is suppose to auto fly your ship back so it's not lost like it is now and so your ship doesn't just vanish from the game world. This stupid mechanic is suppose to be more "immersive" than what every other fucking mmo does even though it will be nearly unworkable. Hopefully the mechanic gets scrapped eventually for the sake of playablity and common sense, even if it means living areas on ships would become useless wastes of space.

>Hello Everyone,
>Our small team is working our socks off on the future of No Man’s Sky, but we wanted to share some news from behind the scenes.
>Our upcoming update will be called No Man’s Sky NEXT, coming Summer 2018.
>Really thanks to the amazing community, each update for No Man’s Sky has been more successful than the last. Atlas Rises, our most recent update, was especially so. That represented a real inflection point in the legacy of our game. This team has never stopped running at sprint pace over the last few years, so perhaps it would have been tempting to stop there. Surprisingly though it had the opposite effect on us, and it emboldened us all to go further and faster.
>We called our upcoming update “NEXT”, because it’s an important next step on a longer journey for us and the community. It will be our biggest update so far, and something we’ve been working ridiculously hard on. This will be free to existing players, and we’ll continue to support No Man’s Sky in this way for the foreseeable future.
>No Man’s Sky is also coming to Xbox One, which has long been hotly requested by patient Xbox fans. The Xbox version will come with Foundation, Pathfinder, Atlas Rises and NEXT from day-one, in 4K and HDR for Xbox One X. We are also bringing No Man’s Sky to WeGame, the Tencent Chinese platform. Since Atlas Rises, China is now our second biggest region for players, and we are delighted to be able to support our Chinese players further.
>We know that there is a lot of hunger out there for news and updates on No Man’s Sky. We appreciate your patience, and we promise we are working hard to reward it.
>Thank you so much,
>Sean

The quintessential case of polishing a turd. I'd be somewhat excited if NMS had actually been a game that let you explore a procedurally generated galaxy at your leisure, instead of being just a bunch of random planets strewn together on your way to the galactic core. Even if it had been a buggy, barely functional turd it could have been interesting to get something like that in this day and age.
Alas, all these soyboys are doing is just adding extra clutter that does not fix the core issues of the game.
>>14582363
>and every time it was a huge pain in the ass just to get a ship and takeoff again lol
That's the thing. All these IMMERSHUN features might sound cool on paper, but when you realize that you'll have to wait until your cargo is loaded, in real time, each and every time you want to go trading, or that every acting in the game will trigger a tedious animation that looks cool the first dozen times you see it but then simply gets irritating as you have to sit there and watch. Also, the simple fact is that SC looks like a slog to actually play.

However /radcorp/ holds their gamenights for all boards that might be interested in the scheduled game so anyone who says otherwise that /radcorp/ has migrated to /vg/ entirely is spreading lies.
btw most of those generals on /vg/ are barely active cause most of the guys on that board stick to IRC, so if you like threads going at a speed that's even slower then molasses and being completely in the dark of any conversations not even happening in those threads then /vg/ is for you.

Carmack was always interested in the virtual reality aspect of it. Games were always just a convenient avenue for him to work on game engines that simulated virtual worlds. His main interest is graphics programming and making shit that looks incredible and runs efficiently. If his friends back at the end of the 80's were actually the guys who went on to make Microsoft Flight Simulator instead of Doom, he probably would have been just as eager to work on it (assuming they weren't gay fags who shat on his attempts to implement bleeding edge graphics tech). He's always been a bit of an odd man out in the industry.

It wasn't so much that Roberts was good or bad. but that Origin was great as a whole until they sold out to EA. Thats when everything went totally to shit. However look at what Roberts did on his own with DIgital Anvil. Starlancer was an extremely lame clone of Wing Commander. Freelancer was a terrible clone of Wing Commander Privateer. I feel like the modding community picked up the slack on this game immensely.
Roberts then left to produce mostly terrible movies. Such as but not limited to a Wing Commander movie, before he returned to live off crowd funded nostalgia bucks.

The cockpits are all fully rendered realtime in SC as opposed to Wing Commander where you had a few squares of actual moving game elements mixed with a prerended background of a spaceship interior, so no.
There's no frame-rate difference if you were to some how toggle off the cockpit in SC. In fact you might actually get a boost since the engine suddenly wouldnt have to render the radar globe and all the shit on the MFD screens.

What haters don't understand is that Star Citizen will replace everything once it's finished. Personally, I have invested tens of thousands of dollars in it because once it comes out I will never need to play any other video game again, I can just play Star Citizen for the rest of my life and never have to spend a dime on buying games anyway. Star Citizen will encompass every genre video games have produced and will ever produce and it will be better than any of those games that focus on only one thing.
Star Citizen could potentially replace life itself, with simulation systems so deep and complex not even real life can compete.
Let the haters jerk off, they don't know what they are missing, us Star Citizens will ascend into a higher plane of existence and watch the haters beg to be let in, then they will pay in kind with their suffering for having mocked us for so long.

Criminal behavior is corrosive to society, and so is supporting companies responsible for brainwashing people, contributing to the erosion of the industry, and the general degeneration of the civilization.
I doubt this action is an isolated case, and atonement is never as good as never committing the sin in the first place.
