I just want the animal ability or some sort dig ability to come back. A Kirby game with a fuckton of abilities would be better than one with shallow combo abilities. Although the ability to play as Dedede, Meta Knight, Marx, Gooey, Animal Friends, and Bandana Dee is nice. Adding Dark Matter, Dreamland 3 Animal Friends, Adeleine, Prince Fluff, and Lololo+Lalala would be nice too.

The plot revolves around the Jambastians, a magic cult who once warred against the Ancients who built NOVA and had the Jambastians banished and erased from history because of their affinity to resurrecting dark spirits. Void Termina is an entity of pure chaos who can reincarnate itself, and it has two forms that resemble both Dark Matter and Kirby, and it's stated that it can reincarnate endlessly and sometimes come back as good too. Also the butterfly that's been in Kirby games since the very first one becomes the beta design for Meta Knight, cucking Galacta Knight, and it's hinted he's the bringer of the apocalypse or something.

I'll be honest, I'd dropped the series for almost a decade until I played Planet Robobot in 2017, and I loved the shit out of that so I went back and replayed Adventure (the one Kirby game I really enjoyed up to that point), and tracked down Super Star Ultra, the original Dream Land, and Dream Land 2 since I missed out on playing them the first time around. I also tried replaying Kirby 64 because I never got the true ending as a kid, and promptly remembered why I stopped trying back then: it's slow as shit, which makes going through levels multiple times just to get all the Crystal Shards for the true ending much more tedious and annoying than it needs to be. I know it's designed to be more difficult going for 100%, but god damn some of these secrets are obtuse and frustrating to get; it also really doesn't help that one of them requires the stone animal buddy power-up, which is dependent on RNG to get the animal you actually need. It's got a great gameplay gimmick, don't get me wrong, and I really like the art direction and music, but I honestly don't enjoy playing it as much as Robobot or Super Star.

Yup, it's also possible Kirby might be Void Termina himself, or something similar. Kirby and Dark Matter are two sides of the same coin.
Also I don't blame you on your opinion on Kirby 64. The whole Dark Matter trilogy is an acquired taste, and as a whole is much more slower and puzzle based than the other Kirby games. That said they have fantastic art direction that really carries the whole series. The only other Kirby game to come close to them in art style is Epic Yarn.
Speaking of Epic Yarn, hopefully Prince Fluff will be one of the friends you can get in Kirby Star Allies. Epic Yarn was underrated.

Playing the Japanese version, I am pretty sure it said that it turns into different things depending on what kinds of energy are used for its resurrection. In this case, he was being given Dark Matter's energy by Hyness. It's possible when his ritual failed, some of Kirby's energy got mixed in or something. I do not think there is any extremely deep meaning to it. The text for the Soul form even mentions that one day he'll be reborn, and that it could be born as Kirby's friend that time. I need to take screenshots of all of the boss descriptions and read through them all in one go so I can understand everything better.

Not even the japanese kirby lore experts really understand what is going on with morpho knight. The description says "he was never meant to be fought," which is kind of hinting how he's really just there for fanservice.
His boss description says that the butterfly shows up when something dies or is destroyed, "on its judgement day." Butterflies are also symbolic of the reincarnation in Christianity, and are associated with spirits or ghosts in a lot of cultures, so it may be playing off of that.

For those who aren't aware what's going on here, the dark mass that swarms Ripple Star is only generically referred to as "black clouds" in the Japanese manual (like in Kirby's Dream Land 3), not "Dark Matter" as in the English version. Like Kirby beats up a lot of villains and leaves them to ambiguous fates and but Sectonia stands out as extremely dead. It's what she wanted. I don't think we're quite at Dragon Ball levels of "anyone can come back to life."

Been thinking about a way to implement a Kirby copy system into a turn-based RPG. So far an idea I thought of is combine it with a card game. Was thinking of a weird cross-over inspired by Arcana where Card Masters have base stats and experience points but the Kirby characters are cards. Arcana was a mediocre first person maze game JRPG due to lack of focus on cards themselves that were just party members.
However I thought about how the monsters on screen looked like cards and how fun it would be to use those to fight. Kirby as your main card can inhale cards with equal or lower HP than his attack, which "captures" the card. Kirby can exhale the card as a projectile or the card master can use a blank card to "copy" the captured card in his deck. He can then summon the card as a helper to battle. But since this is Kirby most helpers will run into enemies and pop. That said Kirby can copy abilities from cards he swallows and use them as his primary attacks. But if Kirby takes one hit Kirby loses ability. We're talking Kirby's Adventure 6 HP statistics. Also card master can feed Kirby cards from his deck to give Kirby abilities. Card Master also has HP too. They can equip copy abilities like magic or weapons like Kirby but only as Equipment (more on that later). But if they take a hit, they lose that ability too.
There's also food and equipment cards as well as support cards and boss cards. Food cards is consumeables. It doesn't only replinish HP it also buffs, debuffs (if bad food), cures status ailments like sadness, and HYPER candy. Equipment are both copy essences in hats and weapons both Kirby and Card Master can use to fight and accessories for one passive effect like defense boost. Card Master can use copy abilities like weapons and magic like Kirby, but if she takes a hit she loses that ability. Support cards are friends and places you can use to change the rules of battle like Adelleine painting a sketch every turn which could be food or an enemy that could attack Kirby next turn (which Kirby can inhale most of the time). Boss cards are more like summons. They unleash a powerful attack or effect but you can only use them once per battle. Example would be Meta Knight's Mach Tornado or summoning Nightmare himself.
Also it's natural to note as Card Master's level increases her HP and deck power increases as does Kirby's HP and power. Of course not all cards are created equal. More powerful the card the more DP it uses to be put in the deck. Exception are copied cards which are added to your back stock after battle.
You'll also be fighting other Card Masters in duels who have taken Kirby's most powerful rivals and centered entire decks around them as well as Dreamland's fiercest monsters themselves.

Sakurai did not direct Amazing Mirror but was credited as Special Advisor, so he definitely worked on it. He is mostly known for doing Dreamland, Adventure, Super Star, and co-directing Nightmare in Dreamland with Shimomura (who also left HAL afterward and nobody knows what happened to him since or if he's even alive), but he left HAL after Air Ride and has been working freelance under the company name Sora Ltd. I've already been spoilered about this but after playing Robobot seeing the planet's face look like Nova… Wow… The feels. I'll have to set up and update Wii U to play Return to Dreamland next. For Susie on her own the only things I can come up with is having her "spy-suit" have built in weapons and a Jet Hover in place of multi-jump/float. It can build power and make a Plasma Shield but she can have more variant attacks of beams and missiles with dashing and jumping based on power level. Also ground pound shock wave attack.
Star Allies has a surprisingly low number of copy abilities. Also I miss TAC.
