Replace the protagonist of FFXV with Jihl, make her extremely prejudiced against immigrants even though her advisor replacing Ignis is a immigrant and the replacement for prompto. Make her bodyguard a big black man voiced by Denzel Washington. Ignis replacement should be Nyx Ulric voiced by Daniel Craig and Prompto replacement should be Libertus voiced by Brendan Frasier. The game should be more about fighting the empire and their collapse/replacement by demons should take place a little later. The game should be coop from the start. Knights of the Round should be a more prominent summon and be unlocked by getting all 15 prior Lucis Royal weapons. The abilities should be modeled after the original Dota 1 abilities.

Nothing in the past got changed in the FF8 world because they tried to do some dumb faggoty moral about how you can't change the past and shouldn't fight fate despite the past having been altered in the very first fucking game, not to mention Chrono Trigger and a bunch of other Squaresoft/Square Enix products. It all depends on what restrictions there are on when you can travel to and what you can do. He might have gone back to try to stop Shinra from ever being formed, but that would probably just mean some other megacorp would create Mako Reactors instead, because it's a resource that someone is going to use, at least until they get the idea that it's destroying the planet. Or he could change the events of the outing with Tifa that ended with her being injured so he could have a better chance at plowing her sooner. Given his character, his most likely choice would be to try to alter the events of the Nibelheim mission 5 years before and stop Sephiroth from burning the town down, or even stop him from snapping and becoming a villain to begin with. He could have tried to convince Sephiroth to join the fight against Shinra, which would have led to it being over very quickly. Due to Cloud's fanboyism towards Sephiroth, it's possible to imagine an alternate universe of FF7 in which Sephiroth is basically Zero, and he teaches Cloud how to be a badass like Zero teaches X, while Cloud provides Sephiroth with an X-like moral anchor that prevents him from spiraling into megalomania. Sephiroth being the product of an evil scientist who created him to be a weapon of mass destruction adds to that.

They could have had Zack and Cloud both appealing to whatever goodness Sephiroth had in him to not go down the path of smashing a giant meteor into the planet, maybe with help from future Cloud. Or they could have still had some sort of mindfuck along with the time travel. According to the recent (possible) leaks, that's what the original FF Versus XIII storyline was going to be about, but they were also apparently going to repeat the dumb faggoty FF8 moral as well when the whole series is supposed to be about defying fate.

Squall was abandoned by his parents and he was the only competent character in FF8, living in a world where he's surrounded by total retards.
