Wow, I have lost all faith in video games now because of all the easy ways to make a good quality product from a source material they managed to fuck up this badly.
So this is a game based on a book series that started in 2007 which was written by a large amount of ghost writers all under the pseudo name "Adam Blade" the book series was moderately popular due to how short they were making them perfect things to read to your kids.
It was written sort of like a Shonen battle manga where it's arcs of 4-7 strong monsters of escalating strength and the protag gets more and more weapons / armors / allies while fighting these bigger and badder monsters.
The first Arc was 6 small books with a larger 7th to act as a finally to the first arc which is what the game is covering.
From the source material you have all you'd need to make a long Zelda style game covering all the locations and monsters you'd fight along the way while also covering all the materials from the books say a movie would never have time to cover (Like the old 6th gen Hobbit game)
But what the final game is, is some god awful "Upgrade" of a button mashing QTE filled mobage game complete with awful god awful dialog, graphics which look like some day 1 unity project, 3 of the 7 books are skipped, the game is a stagnant walk forward into preset battles which all play the same of mash till you need to press left or right and then get back to mashing with literally no time in the game this is changed up.
Like really of all the titles that are derived from a source the one about going out collecting weapons, learning magic and going after progressively bigger monsters shouldn't have been this fucking god awful.
