Didn't see anything in the catalog. Can you anons tell me how to keep a park going longer than five years? It seems like diminishing returns sets in and peeps refuse to pay smaller and smaller prices.

Rides degrade over time. The older a ride is the less they'll pay.

Also, if you have more than 1 type of the same ride it's worth less. So your second/third/forth wood coaster are worth less. Try getting rid of older rides and recreating them.

I'd recommend taking a peek at the source. It's neat to see how the game calculates value.

As >>14551950 says, rides diminish in value over time.

From what I've heard, you generally want to rebuild rides once they reach an age of about 2 years.

It's kind of stupid, but that's because the game is balanced around missions that only last a few years, giving you an initial boom to balance out the debt you start with.

>Rides degrade over time. The older a ride is the less they'll pay.

This is the most important concept to grasp. You can beat all of the scenarios that come with the game pretty casually as they're not truly difficult, provided you understand this concept. Every year, you'll need to drop the price of your rides ever so slightly (when people refuse to queue for them due to the rides costing too much). Destroying the ride and building a new ride once the ride stops being profitable is the best (funnest) way to handle it. There are ways to cheat it, but why bother when there is a cheat menu already?

If you're struggling to make money, the biggest ways to bring in a big dollar early on are to make a good rollercoaster to attract crowds and please people, and to ensure that all of your prices are raised as the default prices are too low. Remember that when you make a rollercoaster, the most important (profitable) stat is excitement. Intensity and nausea will detract from the ride, whereas excitement is only good. I won't go into the specifics, since tutorials out there will do a better job.

That's RCT3-speak faggot, no wonder you can't manage your park

Oh, and another hot, sweaty tip is to pay off your starting loan as soon as you have excess money. If you have any money you're not spending, just pay the loan off, and withdraw more money if you need it back. There is no penalty for withdrawing money except for the constant interest payments, so you ideally do not want to have a loan unpaid if you have any money you're not spending.

This is a good point. I first thought it detracted from your park value or company value but when I realized it didn't I was able to make much larger rides and designs a lot sooner.

never build restrooms, keep building new rides/rebuilding old rides, make paths 2 squares wide when possible (only in openrct2, in the original guests would get fucking lost the instant a path was wider than 1 square), never make cash machines unless you need to retain guests, try to build only a few rides for the first few (2-3) years of the scenario, and then build a shit ton of nice rides in the 4th and 5th years, dont be afraid to use advertisements, make sure your park is fucking clean (hire handymen, and set them to patrol like 2-3 5x5 blocks only) disconnect any path that isnt needed, keep scenery intact unless you need the money, close the park occasionally and then reopen it to get a bunch of money/refresh guests pockets, build information kiosks and set the price of an umbrella to $20, i usually set the price of a ride to its excitement level (i know you can set it higher, theres an excel table someone made that calculates the maximum price guests are willing to pay, i just dont use it because thats a lot of work that im not willing to do)

cant think of anything else off the top of my head

I remember downloading RCT2 a long time ago and not liking it since it doesn't have an infinite money mode. Does open RCT2 have that?

I appreciate the feedback, anons. I've played the game for years and years, but it felt like only until I tried a different park that I was facing challenges that I hadn't been occupied with before.

>>14552029

Eh, my apologies. I've only played that game once or twice, but I was looking up stuff on RCT prior to making this thread and I thought 'peeps' was a commonly accepted term.
