A quick question for those who played it or previous GB games:

Can you have two differently colored beam sabers at the same time?

How sabers' color is even managed in these games?

a383db No.14553164

>>14553154

>How sabers' color is even managed in these games?

Paint color, but you can't do two different colors at a time on standard dual wielding sabers because they count as a single item. However, you can have different colored beam sabers as option parts (added skills specific to body parts, so for instance wearing the Sazabi's backpack gives you the ability to use funnels), which you can also decide the color of, but you won't have both at in a single attack.

Just patience with the build and painting anon. I was a gunpla scrub but you just need to take careful time to sand all the pieces down to get rid of the nubs and practice applying weathering. I have a request if an Hardcore Gundam anon is willing to help me out a bit.

This game looks fun and i'd probably play it regardless, but to get to my point. I'v always loved Robots and Mecha since I was a kid, but Gundam is just something i'v never got into because I rarely watch anime save for some exceptions like the standard DBZ or Devil May Cry's anime.

So I ask hopefully a hardcore fan who knows their shit, what is the best way to get into Gundam? I am completely fine with starting from the very beginning of the first Gundam anime, if that is recommend, I can see Gundam being a series that has many call backs, so it will probably be something I'd want to do. but what should my expectations be? I know jack shit about Gundam.

I'm fine with say watching a series that isn't as good, as a previous one, as long as I know what to expect.

So what would you say is Mandatory and Secondary to get the most satisfaction out of a series like Gundam?

Start at the beginning, Watch all the UC (THis includes MS Igloo, suck it up you'll get used to the CGI from 2006)

Avoid Zeta A New Translation as it's non-canon even according to Tomino.MSG can be watched in either TV form or Compilation movies, the movies remove lot of filler and try touching shit up but you lose some fun shit like the Gyan and the subsequent fights in Texas Colony.

F91, and Victory can be watched at any time within UC since they're so far removed

MSG>MS Igloo1/MS Igloo 2 >8th MS team>War in the pocket (Watch every christmas)>0083>Zeta>ZZ>CCA

For AUs (Alternate Universes) Avoid SEED, SEED Destiny, AGE, 00 Gundam S2, GBF TRY "movie" and maybe just most of TRY since it's eh compared to the original GBF

If you can't stomach old animation suck it up. I don't care, no one cares shut the fuck up and watch. The origin is a more "fleshed out" version of gundam. Watch it later to appreciate it a bit more, however read the manga as the movies do differ a tad and seem to make char's sociopathic tendencies more stand outish. Thunderbolt is a AU of UC and has no bearing on anything else in the UC timeline.

Start watching MSG right now go faggot

Crossbone can be read whenever, enjoy people looking like teenagers or potatoes

Okay that's sounds more simplified, but is their any advantage to watching the whole original series filler and all. What I mean is don't want to miss out on little things that they sneak in for long time fans.

For example Budokai Tenkaichi 3 had an alternate costume for Vegeta that was based on when he was off color at first when DBZ first started. if i were to watch DBZ kai they fixed this detail and I wouldn't have gotten that this costume is a nod. The original series. It still holds up (The original audio however does not. It was recorded at a pretty low quality and has degraded over time as well. You may actually want to watch the decent English dub.). After that watch Zeta. Skip Double Zeta because it's pretty shit and the future works barely mention it.

After Zeta watch War in the Pocket. After WitP you could watch Stardust Memory and 08th Mobile Strike Team, but they both drop in quality a lot midway. Igloo is nifty but the CGI is bad and it's not essential. After that watch Char's Counterattack. If you want more UC watch The Origin and then Unicorn, but they can wait.

Once you've got the most important UC works out of the way, watch Gundam X or G Gundam, then the other. Both are great, though G Gundam is a massive shit in style and tone. Seed is shit, Seed Destiny is worse than shit and Wing doesn't hold up too well . Ɐ Gundam should be watched after all

As for video games, the good ones I know of are

>Zeonic Front (Sieg Zeon!)

>戦士達の軌跡 (Nipponese only)

>戦記 U.C.0081 (Same)

>Gundam vs. Gundam Next PLus (Nipponese only, but aside from menus and some of the mission mode objectives you don't need to read much)

>MS Saga

>Gundam Breaker 2/3 (1 isn't bad, it's just the sequels improved everything so much. 2 is Nipponese only while 3 has a SEA English release that's mostly competent.)

Most of them (Gundam vs. Gundam and the bonus missions of 戦士達の軌跡 excepted) only need you watch the original series. MS Saga is a universe of its own and could be enjoyed on its own, but watch the main UC works (original, Zeta, Char's Counterattack) and G Gundam first at least (Gundam X, despite being a post apocalyptic Earth, is strangely absent). Gundam Breaker is similarlly a crossover game, but without the pilot

a62877 No.14556580

I'd like to ask those who have experience with Gundam Breaker; does the speed seem more than a bit slow in some of the gameplay they've shown? Having already watched footage of Gundam Breaker 3 and waffling on whether to or when I'd get it, I know that Gundam Breaker 3 can get very, very fast as far as boost speed and combos go in the late game, and it's not vastly slower at the start. Newer footage looks better than the ultra-stilted reveal footage I remember, where the showcasing player just sort of lazily drifted around the living room where a team battle was going on, and I'm sure gear plays a part in this, but I'm worried that the transition to UE4 might have fucked up their engine and therefore gameplay literacy, leading to a general slowdown. Am I being too cautious in my observations, or does the base gameplay look off?

Kycillia being an overbearing bulldyke instead of a shrewd telephone pole, Jimba Ral 'confirming' Deikun's assassination (this was explicitly done in the divergent novelization canon but never confirmed elsewhere so I read) except that he's unreliable by way of being a fanatical Deikunist and general unhinged paranoiac, those sorts of things suggests this sort of half-reliable bias. Is this more or less correct?

>>14556507

Plot is a bit more filled out (with slight differences,) in exchange for having to sift through some irrelevant jank at the same time. You get to see that one time a bunch of Koreans animated an episode where a Zaku pilot-turned-deserter pacifist uses Zaku Fu to defend island orphans, with the animation goofs being so bad it was blocked from overseas release and blocked by Tomino from further broadcasts. If all else fails, you can be a madman and watch both the films and the series.

I dunno why they shifted (maybe to make it more translatable to PC architecture?)

No, not the manga, although that is also different from what I recall. The straight text novels had Degwin admit to having killed Deikun to Char's sister. But that's novel canon, which is different to manga canon, which is different to anime canon, which the films have slight differences and exemptions from, but all have the same broad strokes.

They definitely went to UE4 thinking they'd have an easier time with interplatform architecture or modularity or something. I'm just worried about their competence with what is probably their first outing in the engine. I imagine that if I can notice it looking a bit dodgy, the Japs are doing so as well, so maybe it'll get through the thick skull of Jap corporate inertia and get tweaked.

The level of customization in G Breaker has always been good. 2 introduced the ability to level up parts making it so you no longer had to swap out your old parts for "newer" ones that broke the look you were going for unless you wanted to grind endlessly for drops. The problem with 2 was you could only have 1 part for any given piece. Which meant if you wanted to reuse parts for another gunpla you'd be stuck with the stats from Gunpla A on Gunpla B.

3 went back to the first one's formula with a touch of 2's where you could upgrade parts. Not to mention upgrading the rarity of the parts which allowed for more slots to stick stats into. 3 took it a step further, allowing you to take "unique" modifiers from parts and apply them to others. Which meant you could have a stock Zaku II with the turn A's nanomachines for health regen, I field to reduce incoming beam damage and magnetic coating to increase reaction time.

The OVAs tend to have better pacing, better animation, and are more realistic. That's part of why most UC material is OVA now, they figured out it's best to cut the fat. That and the fact that most UC fans are adults and child oriented marketing has been offloaded onto the alternate universes.

You can have both, nigger. Ray tracing is a technique that can help a wide variety styles. Basically the next evolution in real time lighting by simulating light as bouncing particles as they do in real life, granted it'll be a much lower amount in vidya. I'm curious now, having seen that Gundam Breaker 3 and New- I don't know about the previous entries- have basically random, grab bag enemy compositions and generic objectives, outside of 3's VR computer virus punching and probably the others which pretend(s) that there is a uniform threat. Which just happens to mask itself through more random mobile suits. It's obvious that the budget Build Fighters style of play & plot is the focus. Still, have the games ever bothered with 'historical' scenarios or enemy composition, in the campaign or in DLC expansions? Fighting canonical aces and formations as NPCs. Themed faction matches. That sort of thing. It'd be nice to have levels with Feddie mobs to beat on with custom Zekes and vice-versa, Gundam reenactor nerds would be good ground for writing NPCs.Alternatively, maybe something like conceptually transplanting Federation vs Zeon and its career campaign style, or at least the veneer of one, into Breaker. It seems like a waste for Bamco not to exploit that idea, which they've been sitting on for ages.

There's a style to some of the levels, suits who only use giant beam weapons, melee only, desert only, that sort of thing. There will be an occasional one that's themed around a series, where you fight a lot of 0079 enemies, that sort.

I miss the first PS3 Gundam VS missions. They'd have you fight out in specific battles sometimes, as much as the system of play allowed. The one that stuck with me was fighting on the 0080 map against GMs when suddenly Bernie's tape started to play. It took me a little bit to even realize what was even happening, but once Alex and the Zaku Kai showed up, it hit me real hard.

No. The Breaker games don't really do any of that, because there are other Gundam games that do do this, like Battlefield Record 0081, or some of the special scenarios in Extreme VS. I do believe you get to straight up fight a "straight-built" Woundwort in the last DLC scenario for GB3, but that's because no actual Woundwort kit exists that has been put out by Bandai.

That said, if you just want to, say, reenact Doan's Island or whatever, then nothing is stopping you from scouring the Arena's opponent list in GB3 to find uploaded mobile suits that scratch that specific autistic itch of yours. You're just going to have a hell of a time doing so, because "playing the anime exactly except with Original Gundam Do Not 3D Print" is not really the point of the game.

Thanks for the answers. I didn't expect any firm yes, but I like both the games that drop you into the UC proper or some variant of it and the ability for making painstaking what-ifs and plausible variant types in Breaker; if one can't have both at once now, then maybe some years down bulbs will light up in some Bamco heads and merge the two streams. Throwing together and using designs is the important part; lining them up against thematically appropriate enemies would just be a bonus.

Looking at those screenshots from the third anon and liking them quite a bit, I think now is as good a time as any to flagrantly request build screenshots, because I really like vicariously gawking at them and any attendant concept blurbs. I think I recognize that particular Kamen Rider, you didn't happen to make a couple of Zeta-like Zeke suits a while back, did you? Later Neo Zeon hard angle types, one was red, the other blue.

Despite being mostly wrong, (realistic being subjective unless he means a realistic depiction of war in which case War in the Pocket and 8th MS Team actually are the case) he has a couple of decent points. While I wouldn't say pacing is too good for the shorter series, because they are shorter the budget they usually have for it allows for a lot more detail than a full on 50 episode run would allow. That being said, the OVA has a bunch of other issues that come up (beyond story pacing, character development is a hell of a lot tougher, can't be as subtle, it has to all be sudden or none at all) .

I'm not as big a fan of Feddie aesthetics, but I can dig the technicolor blockhouse look. I can especially dig Mr. Green & Purple for the double gatling shield and funnel canisters, plus leg missiles; I really like kitchen sink gunhouses after all, and that suit scratches a little bit of that itch. The combination of a more than usable amount of guns with funnels rather than going all-in on the latter is also nice, although I do like when that's taken to extremes like in the Qubeley. The variety of possible directions the attachment system can take things is really staggering to me, even if the gameplay is a pretty simple semi-musou mashfest.

Whenever I do get around to Gundam Breaker, maybe waiting until New in June, my first definite goal is to build a Zaku II Kai Ground Type; a sort of late OYW one-size-fits-all weapons squadron/heavy assault workhorse suit, meant to fill the MS fire support void left by the Zaku Cannon debacle and fit a middle ground between the mostly melee-centric Gouf and the maneuver-heavy space-thirsty bazooka blitzing Dom; it's chunkier than the former and not as capable of blitz attacks in the open as the former, but it rains shit as a budget MS-scale Xamel in the field and does hideous things in urban warfare, being able to dunk on suits the next block over with high-angle gun attacks, shoot around corners with leg rockets, and turn hardpoints into dust clouds with direct fire ordnance. Probably ends up serving in some vicious colony fighting right at the end war, and more afterwards in Neo Zeon actions. In game, all that translates to 'lots of option weapons,' but ballistics rather than beams, which seem to be more in vogue along with some kind of big evil magic ball attack.

The deteriorating war situation and generally low MS count, plus UMP easy bake customization and comparative glut of weapons to go around to said MS even if they're not much less scarce overall, sees the mass production heavy support MS requirement met with a Dom-powerplant Zaku II Kai loaded down with all the fixings and that can by narrow margin handle a downtuned beam rifle derived from the Gelgoog Jaeger beam MG; with compromises made for the weaker powerplant and mass production, it won't win many sniping contests, and it's a rung or half-rung or so weaker than the Jaeger beam MG just as the beam MG is weaker than large-blast Gundam style rifles, but it still kicks the shit out of GM beam spray guns by virtue of having a usable effective range and single coherent beam in spite of operating on similar wattage thanks to a bit of Zeke desperation innovation, perfect for pinning & pinholing enemy MS and providing overwatch. Cannon backpack, disposable munitions like grenades & sturmfaust, Efreet style 6-tube leg rockets, maybe the Big Gun hip gyrojet from the Zaku Cannon and/or tack-on head vulcans on the B type head, for AA, point defense and infantry mulching. Maybe change in an extra booster leg design to compensate for all the weight in short burst dodges, cribbed from the Gelgoog BR, Rick Dom II or some other, and external drop tanks to keep a sane operational time for the already short-legged MS-06FZ chassis. Either a heat sabre for better wieldiness than a heat hawk in melee, or bareknuckle smashing because there just isn't any room or need for a proper melee weapon with all the ordnance and smashing a beam sword wielding Gundam right in the mouth for his temerity just sounds like the rightest thing in the universe.

>>14563340

Aha, those are the exact builds I was thinking of before. The red drone head-looking Gelgoogish Zekes, the high mobility frankengouf, and the gatling gouf with more gun than the Heavy Arms and Tactical Assault combined. Maybe not the Custom, but that's still a lot of gun. If it wasn't already apparent, you and I are two of soul, mook suits and middle quality not-quite-ace suits are where it's at.

a62877 No.14566174

>>14566037

I can dig a co-op deal, if we can still remember in three months. The Action Zaku would definitely be nice; it fits into a rather interesting place. It has slightly higher thrust performance than the Gelgoog and equivalent power in a shorter, lighter package, but has about half the sensor radius. It was most certainly capable of handling the Gelgoogs' beam rifle therefore, but instead development sputtered on a new and slightly more compact design, even worse than the slow work on the Action Zaku itself, so most of the units get saddled with machinecannons instead. It had revolutionary frictionless joints, but development of the tech was (at least almost) entirely restrained to the Pezun base itself, so it never went into widespread use except in the postwar. And then they get snapped up by the EFF as they and the Titans scramble to get the best shit they can from the Zeonic military-industrial complex and Anaheim whoring.

By the late war, this kind of pocket Gelgoog represented in the Action Zaku (and redundantly so with the Zaku II FZ, again representative of Pezun seeming to be entirely out of the loop in regards to the greater procurement apparatuses of Zeon) isn't quite as cutting edge, but since the Gelgoog was itself a pocket Gundam that modestly to moderately exceeded the original in most all respects save not having bullshit strong Luna Titanium armor, it doesn't have to be, because it's largely going to be shitting on GMs and the latest RX-78-2 derived Feddie prototype or limited production affair at complete tactical advantage, in spite of the abysmal operational situation. It very definitely fits the 'middle quality' sweet spot going by the Zeonic metric, and frankly that's the only metric to go by with how the Feds hamstringed themselves ten times worse than Zeon did with their early war laurel-resting by way of their doing the same damn thing almost immediately after the GMs started to bear (relative) fruit on the front and never waking up from it during wartime, after they'd already seen what a qualitative gap does to the EFF, purely because the Earth Federation civil leadership are absolutely uncomprehendingly cheap, tight-fisted miserly bastards.

Because they need to put in more and often indistinct Gundam variants as filler with a lesser proportion of actually new mobile suits, to retain MS fuel for sequels. Counting them out on the Gundam Wiki page for GB3, the ratio of Gundam-to-not-Gundam full model or part editions is without DLC 7-15; a full third are Gundam platforms, but this is sane enough. It's the series' namesake suit.

With DLC, however, the ratio is 29-18, with 60% of all additions being Gundams. I suppose with this kind of lineup a spindlier Zaku with a nonstandard machine gun & sniper head variant just fell through the cracks, or was deliberately left out for the next game as something for players to remark on.

Should probably include my unoriginal "inspirations" for my Nobel colors.

>double gatling shield

Not quite. That's just the Gundam mk. II's shield over the Unicorn's twin beam Gatling gun. There are a couple of Gatling shields in the game–the Strike IWSP's and the Blue Zaku Custom's–but they are mechanically and objectively inferior to separate ranged weapon + shield setups, at least in Gundam Breaker 3. That said, if you like those types of shields, then by all means, use them. As long as you understand the game's mechanics, you're free to build your shit however you like.

>The combination of a more than usable amount of guns with funnels rather than going all-in on the latter is also nice

I actually did go all-in with the funnels, so to speak. They're Builders' Parts, much like the missile launchers attached to the legs. You only get seven Builders' Part slots, though, and six of those are taken up by those weapons. Building on that (hah), you can also attach shit like GN Field Generators, I-Field Generators, the Astray Red Frame's weeb sword, a single shoulder spike from the Zaku II, or even "invisible" boosts, like aftermarket polycaps and painted pilot figures. They all confer the same across-the-board boost, though, so you can just pick and choose whatever sates your autism. As long as you understand the game's mechanics, you're free to build your shit however you like.

>Whenever I do get around to Gundam Breaker, maybe waiting until New in June, my first definite goal is to build a Zaku II Kai Ground Type

Whoa there, Wiseman. Before you go around building your very own Zack for John, you're gonna want to understand affixes and shit. That is to say, a "straight-built" GM, armed with "stock" weapons, but boasting superior affixes on each part, will always produce better results than a super-customized Frankenzaku armed with the Susanowo's blades and the V2 Assault Buster's giant fuckoff rifle.

Here, take a look at Figure 3. Yeah, it's in moon, but that's because I didn't want to wait another six weeks plus shipping time to play the game. Anyway, let's break it down, from top to bottom.

- The Gatling gun has a capped 5% chance to break off a part from an enemy gunpla. This stacks with your melee weapon and your head unit.

- In addition, the weapon builds your EX actions' meters 35% faster on hit. This stacks with your melee weapon and your arms, for a total cap of 120%.

- It also builds up the Burst meter 39% faster on hit. This stacks with your melee weapon and your torso unit, for a total cap of 120%.

- This weapon's projectiles can explode upon close proximity with an enemy gunpla. Unless used with bazookas, this ability is useless on its own, unless…

- … this weapon's projectiles can now explode on contact, thanks to this next ability.

- The weapon's tracking performance is increased by 100%, which means that outsmarting these explosive beams became that much harder.

- The projectiles' explosion radius is increased by 100%. Again, this is useless unless your weapon's bullets can explode.

- On hit, this weapon will restore your durability by a capped 400 points. This stacks with your melee weapon, head unit, torso unit, and arms, for a total of 2000 points per hit. And on Extreme and Newtype difficulties, this is… kinda nice to have, really.

- This weapon's deeps is increased by a flat 7500. Not exactly essential, but nice to have. One thing to note is that ranged weapon DPS abilities can be affixed to the head, while melee weapon DPS abilities can be affixed to the arms.

- This weapon's equipped with the Double Pack from the Advanced Hazel's machine gun, which boosts the weapon's ammo gauge by 30%. One thing to note is that orange "Unique" affixes such as these will boost its relevant stats beyond its cap.

"Combination" equipment such as the GN Sword (a Saber-class weapon that can optionally also be used as a Rifle-class weapon), the F91's arms (which can deploy a beam shield), Gatling shields (Gatling Gun-class weapons that also take up the Shield slot), or the Zanbuster (a Rifle-class weapon that can optionally also be used as a Saber-class weapon) are inferior to separate part-combination setups for one main reason–you can't affix the "optional" function. That is to say, someone wanting to be just like Gundam by using the GN Sword as both a saber and a rifle won't be performing as well as someone wielding both a GN Sword and a Zanbuster. That said, as long as you understand the game's mechanics, you're free to build your shit however you like.

holy shit that's a lot of sperging for something nobody gives a shit about.

If it sounds like I'm trying to rain on your Zaku-filled parade, I'm not; in fact, I'm all for it. Hell, the game even encourages you to Frankenstein shit, as that's the only way you'll learn EX and Burst actions for your own use–that is, by constantly using the relevant abilities granted by the relevant body part, you can master that shit and add it to your repertoire. So you can have a Gelgoog that busts out a Big Gun and can do some of that crazy JEGAN HOW ARE YOU martial arts shit, if you so choose. Or you can just load your shit up with every Finger attack in the game.

Thanks for the indepth reply. I did have a vague idea of the grindfest to enhance parts and abilities being tied to them, and the fact that that grinding equalizes all parts in the end, but the breakdown helps to drive home the specific ability hunting & synthesizing necessary to make things work. That bit about combo weapons not getting customization for their second function in spite of it taking the slot really gets my goat, and I'll have to keep in mind to keep a healthy distance from them; hopefully they'll fix that in New one way or another. But as long as I can have an arsenal of disposable explosive things up my ass that deal usable or better damage, I'll be happy. Nice BRRRT, by the by. The synergy of prox shells with big fuck you splash damage is not gentle with crowds of shitter enemies I'd imagine.

Judging by this footage, which lurked in the back of my head as a proof of concept, and others I've watched of option attacks in use- and three instances of 'you're free to build shit however you like'- the setup I want is most definitely possible and more than serviceable, even if it likely isn't strictly as good as tryhard dark balls and crowd mangling windmill attacks at the highest level. Dump one set of option weapons' charge, move onto the next, occasionally use regular shooting or attacking as filler to charge them back up, or so it appears. How's option weapon recharging work more exactly? Is it a timed recharge or is it fueled by murder? Also, I know that there's HG and MG kits & parts, with the latter being a fair bit bigger with better base stats, but is there an MG to match every HG or are you shit out of luck if you want to make an MG-scale gunpla with certain parts? There was already that bit about the Woundwort being acquirable only through killing an in-universe scratchbuild enemy, because no real world kit exists; that leads me to the sinking feeling that there are no game-only MG kits, because Jap autism. I can stand being a mechamanlet if that's what it takes, but I certainly don't want to be.

>How's option weapon recharging work more exactly? Is it a timed recharge or is it fueled by murder?

Yes. Option equipment has a timed cooldown period, and can be enhanced by attacking with weapons that have the "Parts Out: Option Equipment Recharge" or "Enemy Kill: Option Equipment Recharge" abilities, along with the "Option Equipment Charge Speed" ability. Or something like that; again, moonrunes. There's also an ability to increase their "ammo" gauges.

To clarify, "option" equipment refers to weapons and features (I-Fields and whatnot) that are attached to the head, body, arms, legs, and backpack, whether through the parts themselves or through Builders' Parts attachments. For my specific example, this includes, from top to bottom:

- A single beam saber, from the Z+ C1's legs.

- The paired missile pods, attached to the Z+ C1's legs.

- A limited-use repair kit, included with every gunpla

- Paired fire-linked beam cannons, which come standard on any Z+ C1 leg parts you equip.

- Dual-wielded beam sabers, from the Gundam mk. II's backpack (either Titans or Ey, Yuug; doesn't matter)

- Twelve motherfucking funnels. Which is a bit overkill, really.

- Head vulcans from the V Hexa's head, because why the hell not.

Why I have those beam sabers set up when I already have a pair of "anti-ship" swords is easy to explain: I used to use the GM Striker's twin beam spear as my main weapon, before I said to myself, "I want some fucking solid-state swords." The fact that the paint setup for those swords lets me make only the "business" ends all chromed-out was a bonus.

That said, if you want to know the true meaning of frustration, try finding this glorious nip faggot in the Arena. There's nothing like sitting around twiddling your thumbs as you get caught in Rose Hurricane after Rose Hurricane, cursed to never fucking die because you've invested in auto-repair on a few parts and had the foresight to use the Field Defensor EX action beforehand.

>I know that there's HG and MG kits & parts, with the latter being a fair bit bigger with better base stats, but is there an MG to match every HG or are you shit out of luck if you want to make an MG-scale gunpla with certain parts?

Gundam Breaker 3 operates on this one rule: "If it exists in the real world in HG form or some equivalent, then it exists in the game in MG form." The reverse is also true, as some MG-only kits (as of the game's development period) exist in the game as HG kits.

HG and MG parts in the game only differ in size, as they both have the same base stats and level caps across the board. HG parts drop on the initial Casual, Standard, and Hardcore difficulty levels, while MG parts drop on Extreme and Newtype, where every single "HG" enemy mook is replaced with an equivalent MG kit. This means that if you punk the Woundwort as a casual faggot, you'll get some HG parts; surviving against the freak of nature on EXTREEEEEEEEEEEME will reward you with MG parts.

Also, fun fact: the monoliths in the "Monolith Destruction" mission type are propped up on Action Base 2s. It's those little details that put an autistic smile on my face.
