So I’m thinking about buying this for my console with no games. Is it good? Can somebody give me the rundown on it?

64fa6c No.14550034

Come to think of it, I haven't heard about this game since it was announced.

561d5a No.14550036

its like minecraft if minecraft was a game and could make you feel things. get it.

See, it looked like an actually fun version of minecraft, it run okay on the Switch? Also, how’s the combat feel?

We talked about it for a while around the time it released. It's pretty damned good and puts Minecraft to shame by being a more engaging and interesting game in every single possible way.

Demo actually downloaded really quick. I love how it’s a mix between Zelda and the good aspects of Minecraft with the monsters and atmosphere of a Dragon Quest game. How much time can you get out of it and are there a good amount of things to do? Haven’t bought a console game in a while so the lack of mod support for a Minecraft like game makes me wonder about the long term appeal.

Just pirate it.

Don't pay more than $20 for it. Better yet, pirate it for the PSVita/PSTV.

As others have said, it's an actual game - unlike minecraft - but it's light on content and pretty restrictive. Assumedly, this is to keep you "on quest" and not just fucking off to build entire multi-level metropolises - and each time you beat the boss of a land, it starts you over from scratch. None of your materials or building plans or anything really carry over. This allows each area to be (somewhat) well balanced to provide the challenge that each area was intended to have. Unfortunately, there is no end-game unified sandbox world where everything you unlock in single-player is available to you. So once you're done with the game, you're done with the game, and there's very little reason to go back and continue playing or starting over again.

It's Minecraft-lite grafted onto a not-quite-RPG, and comfy as hell. Just don't expect too much out of it.

the lack of mod support is made up for it by actually being a good game.

Give the demo a try.

The game is good, but I don't think it was worth full price. I played through the story once and then put it down forever.

Just wait for Dragon Quest Builders 2 with 4 person multiplayer

It's super comfy. If you like either Dragon Quest, Minecraft, or Terraria then it's right up your alley.

>Switch

If you're going to get the Switch version then you're going to get a nice little bonus.

There is a freeplay sandbox world though.

There is Terra Incognita, which is available immediately and unlocks more materials and block types as you progress. There's no story or anything, so it's mostly just letting your autism run amok. You do get people and monsters who move into your town as well, but from what I recall they don't do much of anything.

>Terra Incognita

Isn't that an online only mode where you only get a small plot of land with the intention of "sharing" your creation online with other players?

885ad6 No.14550273

>>14550264

That IS a feature of it, but it's not all it is. You get a big chunk of land to build on, without the tiny borders forced on you in the main game, as well as different places to warp to and fight monsters/gather supplies like in the main game.

What's the state of Vita piracy these days? I remember it being on track to being really easy, and then something fucked things up and the file format for games turned out to not be good or something.

No you can play it without online.

I haven't done much since the nonpdrm plugins became a thing, but from the sounds of it, the piracy scene is better than ever. Henkaku has a CFW 3.65 version (must be installed from 3.60) that lets you player newer games, and the aforementioned nonpdrm plugin allows you to run official DLC/Patches without having to use a jank-third party installer like Mai.

Maidumps were pretty much the standard before (it's what I still use), but they're able to rip and install games with the official vpks - so (IIRC) there was a FreeShop like service running on it (or talk of putting one up) for a while where you could download games directly from either Sony's servers or from a third party server via a homebrew app and it would install them as if you bought them digitally.

Found a video on it on Jewtube, not sure if it's still current, but that was the last I heard on the scene.

Yes, DQB is really under-rated. That's the perfect way to describe it.

DBQ is like someone made a game and then added minecraft to it.

Minecraft is like someone made a voxel tech demo and then tried to make it a game out of a tech demo by randomly throwing game mechanics at a tech demo.

The only thing I wish Terra Incognita would let me do is bring over NPCs from the main game, even if they're generified in nature.

You will never live a comfy life with a harem of Pippa, Elle, Barbella, and the Princess of Tantegel.

There are human NPCs. I recommend favoriting those because they can still produce things in work shops and kitchens. Since you need fertilizer to grow crops I recommend making a bistro or bsr ASAP crockery coubts as display food. And anything you build on the home island affects the island like a base in the main game. So that Ironmonger Studio will give you that durability boost until you get your unbreakables.

Treasury is impossible to make in Terra because colossal closet does not count as a coffer. So just combine your closet with your carpenter workshop.

And yes having seperate workshops let your humans build different furniture which saves a little resources and time. Just don't expect NPCs in Terra to build the frequency of stuff like in the main chapters.
