LET'S OVERCLOCK POLLING RATES

I uploaded some mouse overclocking tools to the mouse and keyboard thread (>>14511357) and I thought I might as well share them with everyone while I'm at it. Video is not very related. I just grabbed a random semi-related youtube video so I can post.

WHAT IS POLLING RATE AND WHY WOULD I OC MY MOUSE?

Polling rate is how frequently your mouse updates your PC on its latest position. A higher polling rate makes the mouse more responsive. The default polling rate for most mice is 125hz (ie. every 8 milliseconds). The preferred polling rate for gaming is 1000hz (ie. every 1 millisecond). If you're on a wireless mouse you'll probably only get to 500hz tops though. Polling rate is much more important than that DPI shit manufacturers brag about on their mice. Make sure the polling rate you use is good for your mouse though. There's also some stuff for adjusting mouse acceleration although a lot of games are likely to ignore your PC's mouse acceleration and use their own mouse accel settings.

Basically, if you play FPS, you want high polling rates so your mouse works better.

>installing drivers from executable files posted on an anonymous imageboard by someone using tor

For your average Windows user this probably seems like a completely normal thing to do.

note: your mouse is probably not even 1000hz all the time, only during movement.

You might be able to OC your keyboard's polling rate too using this stuff, but that's pretty gimmicky and you'll have to find the tools to test if that worked or not. Also I think keyboards have a built-in delay to prevent accidentally registering a button press as a double-press, so the value of boosting polling rate is more dubious.

Yes.

Caution is a good trait, but before you jump to conclusions, you're welcome to run it through a virus scanner and google all the stuff inside it. Go search hidusbf.sys, MarkC mouse acceleration, dimr.exe, and mouserate.exe. It's all legit. Feel free to look up "mouse polling rates" if you're interested in the topic.

This stuff is pretty relevant if you like playing first-person shooters, since input delay can make all the difference. All those little delays add up (mouse, screen, network) to something that will make the difference between you hitting that button in time and failing.

Don't really need a thread dedicated to this when there's another mouse/keyboard thread up that you already posted this in. Dumb torposter.

The left click on my mouse recently started to fail, any recommendations for a good mouse?

>>14513886

This is a OC thread. There are a lot of people who are not buying new mice who might be interested in boosting their mouse performance.

>>14513930

There's a dedicated thread for that: >>14511357

I'm currently using the Logitech B100. Works fine for me and I've got it running stably on a 1000hz polling rate overclock. It's also just $9.

Woops, no. I've got a Logitech M90.
