I liked it a lot. They did a good job at making the battles feel large, and the operations mechanic made you actually feel important to the war effort. The story was cheesy as fuck, but I didn't mind that much. Also, high-G turns were fun.

I played through the whole ps2 triology with an I5-4460 on software mode (didn't have a gpu) using PCSX2. It played fine but there were some 'slow-mo' moments because of low framerate, I think recent updates fixed some hardware mode bugs but I haven't tried it yet.

I am afraid of the possible micro transactions. I have never played Ace Combat: Infinity, but I heard that game had micro transactions out the ass. Ace Combat 6 also had micro transactions for extra planes, such as a Yellow Squadron paint scheme for the SU-33 (also affects the plane's stats) and a F-15 ACTIVE paint scheme for the F-15E (again, also affected the stats of the plane). Fortress is pretty easy once you figure out that the only targets that actually matter are the two tank formations at the gates, which can be bombed or strafed long before they actually show up on the HUD. You only have to kill around half the bunkers and you're given plenty of time to do so.
