If you just wanna fly around for a few hours then Age of Wushu is not the game. Flying skills aren't free, some of them are pretty expensive, and flying points drain too fast.

How is it I've managed to burn out on my interest in this? Maybe that I've seen too many videos of modern chingchongs and it's put me off.

Age of Wushu is the only mmo that actually nails the wuxia aspect. Completely sandbox with little hand holding, great combat system and the best classless and level-less progression system in any mmo in my opinion. Join schools and factions for their kungfu, cultivate your skills and internal abilities, open your meridians, obtain the most powerful and rare kungfu and slowly work your way to becoming The Strongest Under Heaven.

Too bad it's run by Snail, here's hoping that age of wushu 2 wont get fucked in the same ways.

As long as I can do more open world pvp hijinks like killing people do cart escorts, fucking up group practice with Tangmen darts and ganking people with a group of Royal Guards all using the claw, i'll be happy. For as shitty as Age of Wushu became under Snail's shit I still had a shit ton of good times with the guilds we had over the couple years I was playing it.

The p2w aspects come from the cash sets. The game started out with all the skill sets being obtainable ingame until they released the cash sets. You can pay like 30 spondullies and instantly get a full set of very strong skills that are often times outright better than most of the feasible skill sets you can get without dishing out some dosh. Then there are the ULTRA cash sets which are only sold for limited amounts of time and for ridiculous amounts of money, talking like upwards of 900 bucks here. Those sets beat pretty much everything and are absolute cancer.

Theres a lot of other p2w aspects to the game too but I honestly dont know much about them other than that they exist.

I play Black Desert Online, it's just a superior asian MMO tbh

If you were unemployed and you autistically powered your character 24/7, you could kind of hang with the people who spend twenty thousand dollars and never put in a minute of effort, but people who spent the money and did the work or paid an Indonesian to do the work were untouchable, and both of those groups were unreasonably large for such a small game. And if you whaled up hard enough you even got a GM's personal Skype information so you'd never be inconvenienced.

They don't need the dicks for anything, the Rootless master just wants to show his contempt for the outside world. The target had to be a male character above a certain level, then the Rootless members had to set an array by standing in a special formation and hit the target with an array skill, then knock them down to zero HP but not finish them once they fall into a bleed-out state, then they hit the target with another array skill and a tent falls out of the sky and an NPC surgeon gets to work while the Rootless defend the tent.

It had like a 99% chance of the NPC surgeon just mutilating the player, which would give them a three day debuff where they'd run slowly and bleed from the groin whenever a Rootless player was nearby, and a 1% chance of a successful castration and an invitation to join the Rootless themselves.

The rootless grind was so mind numbingly dull it made me want to quit the game but fucking people with that set in world pvp was worth it. In my time there we managed to cut the dick off of one poor bastard successfully, he was in Shaolin so he actually got kicked out of the school because he got castrated.

From what I remember the only way to get your dick reattached was to find a player in the Shen Family medicine sect and ask them to reattach it for you, but that required spending medical points which were unbearable to grind and also directly affected the damage of the Shen set, so you had to pay through the nose to get it done. Also if you joined Rootless and then betrayed them, they'd burn your dick box and it was gone forever.

Wushu was something special, it's a real shame that it wasn't good.

Nah, that shit got sorted out like two years ago; turns out i needed a NEW modem, since they kept sending out refurbished ones that, themselves, got sent in for being busted, checked out clean, and got re-circulated. And really, anyone not playing a constant-online-connection game wouldn't have a problem with two-second disconnects every half hour, but it got right up my taint. Hell, i even recall playing TF2 with it, and all it did was freeze every now and then as opposed to disconnecting like a son of a bitch with Wushu and Firefall (rip in piece firefall).

The reason you're seeing Age of Wushu thrown about a lot is that it has some basic kinetic action, despite being button-pushing like any other MMORPG, it feels like you're doing kung fu instead of generic shit. Compared to Perfect World in particular, the tone and feel of playing are completely different; PW feels very WoW, Age of Wushu feels like something of its own.
