I only ever got the chance to borrow a friend's C64 as a kid, never had my own. I'm honestly stupidly excited to get one of the replicas they're releasing this year. I want the full-sized one that will function as it used to, complete with being able to program my own shit in BASIC.

Which one? I saved a couple of old amiga games from the trash, but have no way to play them.

If there were a cheap option to get the hardware I would do it.

I love everything about the Commodore 64, the games, the demo scene, the old magazines, the competition with other home computers from that era, the music and of course everything Manfred Trenz.

I am thinking about buying a Commodore to play games, learn some basic and maybe for some home automation that the russians cannot hack. What computer would you recommend?

Just to point it out btw, this game was so well done that they got hired to do the actual R-Type port for the C64 which is just masterful

There are so many god damn tunes for C64 it's such a fucking chore to go through all them to find the good ones. HVSC has over 50 thousand files.

What's the best way to find those really sick C64 tunes among all the rest of them? I tried going through some demo parties on pouet and picking up the winners to narrow down the search and it has somewhat worked, but it's boring and very slow and doesn't always work.

It's basically an NES Mini but for the C64. There's one literally small version with a non-usable keyboard, just the joystick for playing games (but you can plug a USB keyboard and mouse in to it IIRC) and then there's the full-size one that does have a working keyboard.

I doubt either of them will have working 3.5" or 2.5" drives, although it's possible some enthusiasts will hack some together and sell them I suppose.

Go through this guy's channel. He does oscilloscope views of a bunch of C64 songs, and most of them are pretty good. Not too many of them, though.
