I was playing DooM 64 the other day and I revisited the secret levels like Outpost Omega where the UAC were apparently testing and experimenting with demonic artifacts. I've always been a big fan of the theme of grim dark top secret government projects and/or research experiments in video games, but is there anything out there (fictional or realistic) that involve themes like project Aurora, S4 and any of the highly classified projects like the supposed TR3B's and JROD involvement (aaayyy lmao's logically explained as humans from the far future etc.) Any games out there that follow the "real" themes and testimonials of the supposed A51 or other employees that worked on such projects? (inb4 this thread gets locked down and over run by shills)

Metal Gear Survive of course. You should have a blast with this game unless you're a kojidrone who hates gameplay.

You posted SCP: Containment Breach, but if you want multiplayer, they recently released of Secret Labatory, which is 20-25 player multiplayer where 4 players play SCPs then you have NTF, Chaos, Class-D, and the scientists all roaming around.

It's F2P

What he means is its free. It doesn't have microtransactions of any sort, but since you can host your own servers there's no guarantee on that. It does have that "freegame" level of quality, though its passable, and you have to use voicechat to communicate.

A bit off topic, but it's a shame there aren't more multiplayer horror games like this. The only other one I can think of is Damned.

There's Dead by Daylight and Friday the 13th, off the top of my head. Last time I saw damned it was still in early access and now it looks like its dead with nobody playing. Games like these are better off free if they want to keep a playerbase, the way SCP: Secret Laboratory is. It has 200-300 people around the world playing it right now and you can join mid-round.

Secret Laboratory sounds like a horror themed SS13 lite, if it had more features it'd be pretty neat.

The game is a pile of shit reguardless of Komjima. Infact the gameplay might be the worst aspect.

Brutal Doom 64 but you can change the settings to keep it as classic as possible

Secret government experiments/alien-related easter eggs are always the best type of easter egg in videogames, period. If the easter eggs are based real places and events, such as Roswell or Area 51, they're even better. And then at the very apex of the god-tier, you have games where said easter eggs are one of the main focuses of the game's entire plot.

In the case of Vigilante 8 (best car combat game ever made btw), aliens and secret government experiments are literally half the game's story, and it mostly happens under your nose. The intro video, the secret characters, secret stages, and even the game's main theme song reflect that.
