Peach Beach Splash is out on PC and it's fucked son, if you're using a 360 controller there are game-breaking camera bugs. Mouse look is barely viable because the sensitivity is too damn low. If you've got a PS4 controller though you're good, use it through steam and all the bugs go away. (Not DS4 windows, this makes the DS4 emulate a 360 controller and the bugs apply too).

Game keeps crashing on trying to do multiplayer for a lot of people. So yeah, there is a dire need for a patch right about now.

As you can expect it's very different from your average Senran game, and it doesn't come into its own until you're fighting the 5v5 matches. Then you understand it's really not your average TPS either, the senrans go fucking sanic fast with super-powered jetpacks. You'd need some serious aiming chops to hit anything in manual. It's more about positioning and ambushing using your weapon's unique characteristics than aiming. Taking the time to revive teammates is quite important and a risk/reward mechanic as well.

Fairly fun but in limbo until patched. The multiplayer might never be alive at any point if they don't fix the crashes fast enough.

Depends on the set you use. Barrier breaker is a card everyone should have as barriers are a pretty powerful tool. Instead of waiting for cooldowns to go down, you should be trying to soak your teammates. Of course, this is pointless offline. Now what's broken is a healing and barrier deck. You can stay alive for ages with those. Or stacking self soaking cards to super soak yourself with a minigun or pistol. What I find absurd is that the attack goes can go through walls making the spa stage fucking hell as shotgun blasts ricochet off everything and people blast anyone that gets close. It's also the most fun stage IMO.

Except the gameplay. It had horrible flaws like how enemies would attack you from outside your camera, which was of course exacerbated by how close to your character the camera was. Which in turn was probably because of the 3DS' shit tier resolution and small screens forcing them to keep the characters close to the camera to make them more than a grainy mess of a handful of pixels. Playing those challenge rooms, whatever they were called, as a ranged character was pure pain when enemies would constantly shoot or dive at you from outside the camera.

PBS's gameplay is genuinely good. The movement-focused design makes for a more dynamic and fun experience than the faux-musou SK is. The card system isn't as dumb as it sounds either, as it serves as a XP system you can spend on the characters and abilities of your choice. It's not flawless - Cards shouldn't be bound to the D-pad because that forces you to interrupt movement which you really shouldn't in this game, the aim is fucky on some of the active effects, and some characters' cards are utterly fucking useless which makes entire lines of rare cards useless in turn. But it's definitely frantic enough to at least make it both fun and pretty original.
Unfortunately, there's clearly a multiplayer focus here. The best singleplayer battles just emulate a 5v5 match with the teammates incapable to understand the soaking mechanic. The number of SP missions is very limited, with only 10 missions per school and twelve 5-mission sidearcs. The SP gives pathetic money compared to the MP.
Too bad I've just checked and literally nobody wants to play competitive multiplayer within the first week of release. People who like senran aren't the type to go for ranked bullshit.
In conclusion, PBS is a surprisingly solid spinoff at its core, but sacrificed direly needed singleplayer content for a misguided multiplayer. There's potential for a good all around PBS2, but it would need some serious revisions in content design.

When you lose 50% of your health you get a barrier for some time, which is the time for the attacker to go hide and recharge. The ryoki cards and I think the kagura pet also give barriers but they're weaker.
Also, you don't want to do direct confrontation, this game is more about movement and ambushing, so you should ideally have the opportunity to see if they have a barrier, it's very visible.
Oh yeah and I forget, there is one singleplayer mode which gives a lot of cards, the V-tournaments or whatever it's called. Third mode in single splash. I think the AI teammates there at least try to super soak you.

There's a lot of really easy 1 v 1 battles in the highest difficulty Paradise Episodes that you can use to farm 5 star cards - duplicates of which earn 100xp each. So that's a really easy way to earn XP offline.
Online, do the whore'd mode/Co-Op missions. Even if you don't make it to the end stages, you'll earn a ton of Zeni which can be used to buy cards from the shop. Everyone else on your team is usually well equipped enough that they can cover for you until your characters/equip/cards are up to par.

My experience was that you need to focus your deck on protecting your suicidal AI teammates, because they prefer to stay in melee range where one spin attack can wipe out all three of them. The boss itself is fine but the AI can't deal with the mechanics and I hadn't leveled them up enough for them to just eat the attacks. I had to give everybody a group barrier card and it was still about a ten minute fight that involved a lot of running around to revive teammates.
I've always hated the "difficulty" settings and the progression elements in these games because they just involve increasing the numbers for the most part. The cards are a good change but they should have replaced the other progression entirely instead of becoming the new source of XP, and difficulty settings should have been tuned around your health and main weapon damage being constant. Right now "hard" just means "high level", which is stupid.

Probably because those are the swimsuits you're supposed to use, because they were too lazy to figure out how to strip a one-piece during a squirmy finish. So you just end up stripping off the default swimsuit - and everybody gets that swimsuit. They also added in full sets of clothes, which is fucking retarded in this kind of game. Even more stupid, nearly all of the clothing sets let you pick out and customize underwear to show through when the clothes get shredded (by water), but you can't squirt the underwear off during a squirmy finish - it just goes back to default swimsuit.
Much rather they'd have just limited the clothing options, and then put more effort into offering a greater variety of swimsuits - as some of the new girls don't even have their own personal swimsuits.
Does anybody even use diorama mode? Seems like a colossal fucking waste for a non-game feature, but if they wanted to add clothes, just make them exclusive to dioramas.

This is my main problem with it, too. It's really slow, ironic considering it's a game about ninjas. There are also other pointless delays that slow the game down for no good reason, like how there's a long delay after firing many weapons before you can start recharging them (which as you already said is the source of both your mobility and ammo). You can negate it by jumping and then reloading, but that just makes you wonder why it's there in the first fucking place since it isn't for balance purposes and just serves as an inconvenience.
Also, skipping the mini cutscenes you get every time you defeat someone/something spawns etc. makes you do a short water dash, what the fuck is up with that? It's really annoying when you just want to play the game, and especially stupid when you're using a long range weapon and skipping the cutscenes makes you dash towards enemies and waste water.

I can deal with the ammo/movement resource pool, because it at least makes you manage your water levels - do you go all out firing your gun to get a takedown, or save a bit in reserve for a quick getaway? It's not grand strategy by any means, but it's something that adds a bit of tension to combat.
What kills me about the game is the fucking unbreakable half-health shields which last 3~5x longer than it takes to deplete an enemies HP pool - which basically means any engagement pretty much just turns into a massive group of shielded enemies firing impotently at each other or running away and waiting - hoping to catch an unshielded enemy for a quick kill.
It completely breaks the flow of the game. Shields should be reserved for cards only, or it could have been a option for a slot in a valuable passive ability loadout (if the game even had those) and none of them should be unbreakable.
