No it fucking didn't, the beta was dull as fuck with materials that didn't matter, and the endgame was putting turrets everywhere. Fences were obscene except if you fucked up and let a bomber get too close, and even then slow weapons were useless. Shotgun damage didn't get calculated correctly meaning it did less than a pistol more often than not.

I was in the earlier thread and was the fag who got it for free after doing some drunken wagering. Im surprised how much this game took my low expectations and brought them around. The problem with this game is that the pacing is just trash. I like the idea of the single player being a tutorial for the really fun end game but because it takes almost thirty hours to get to the fun class shit many people just fucked off after the 3 hours of fence fuckery. The games co-op end game is this fun class based horde game with MMO gear fuckery and a flow of new content because the fox engine map system is god tier. On paper it works really well but the steam player count is hitting only 2,000 and matchmacking is becoming harder and harder.
Im actually kind of sad how this game turned out but hopefully there can be a small group of people you can fuck around with, I would play with some anons here anytime.

Oh yeah, another fun thing I noticed about endgame enemies. The normal zombies get a load of new attacks the further you get in the game. In the beginning, they just have a couple of slow slaps and the short range grab, later, they can dive at you from long range, and they start doing the double uppercut which is a cunt of a move, because it knocks you down, and always fucking bruises, cuts or bleeds your god damn legs. And even later on, they get more attacks like really fast slaps, or get extensions to their attacks, like the double uppercut doing a spinning backfist at the end and such. I thought that was pretty neat.

I had actually hoped MG:Survive would be pushed out sooner and under a more rushed deadline. The reasoning for this was that I was convinced MG:Survive was using up assets from all the other cut shit in the MGSV game to cobble together something. It looks like that may have happened to some degree but they may have more heavily modified it.
See, the MGSV game never sat right with me. Not because it didn't really have an ending but because it felt like a frankenstien of two different games/stories being made. As if direction on the game shifted wildly during development. A good number of the hallmarks/tropes of a MGS game story were missing. The way plot points would just vanish, or worse yet, how some dialogues seemed design around a game mechanic and then just dropped. A good example of this would be when Miller and Ocelot are talking to Venom and there is a choice to make, use these special rockets to stop a bad guy or don't. Now the end result is not using the rockets gives you more money but it seems like it was supposed to be died into the morality system. The morality system, which is still baked in, that does nothing but keep you covered in blood and make you have a huge horn. It is clear there may have been more planned for that.
I could go on but really I am hoping people are able to take a good look at both of these games now. Survive is new so it might take a while for someone to really comb over it and see where its assets may have fit into Phantom Pain.

I had a theory that the shift happened when Chapter 2 was in development, hence the amount of rehash missions from Chapter 1. I can assume that it happened around the time when Kojima/Konami debacle started to happen in Spring 2015, which probably means that by that time only Chapter 1 and parts of Chapter 2 were finalised and after that point they had to slap it all together, add some rehash missions and do the beta testing phase and the final dev crunch towards optimisation/further bugfixing on PC and consoles.
The supposed "leak" post about cut content gets mentioned all the time in MGS threads (the one about how there were supposed to be 5 chapters and how the game is gutted because of pastgen hardware limitations). I call it bullshit until concrete proof of it surfaces which is most likely never ever. The only thing I can find plausible about that post is the distance between Mother Base platforms and the emptiness of the game world because of pastgen hardware limitations, since it's been confirmed that the limit of active NPC's in MGSV, not including the player and the buddy, is 24 (at least in the PC version).

How does that make sense? What does that have to do with a single player only game? What does that even have to do with the online mode in V? Everyone still just uses trainers when infiltrating FOBs. They’re invincible (except for tranqs), have infinite ammo and fultons, and move at 3x speed. Also they don’t set off detection so they can destroy everything, kill everyone, and fulton all resources without you ever being notified about it. And if they fuck up and you are notified, they’re unkillable and win by default.
