I'm all for separation of artist and work, one of my favorite bands is Bomb the Music Industry. Jeff Rosenstock is a massive faggot who heavily changed direction in his recent work, and wont stop politicizing everything anymore. The election and feminism really did a number on him. My eyes aren't seeing where it transitions well enough. I think it's got to do with having protanopia. Another solution would've been to change the color of the tiles on top of the bridge to a shade lighter. Overall just needs to have a value difference than the background so they look distinct. I own skullgirls on steam, so I got a 25% discount on this game on top of it being only 15 dollars. I'd have learned SG instead, but nobody is playing that game. Well, I learned basically what you said shortly after I played a little SG. What I'm getting at is while TFH is in the z engine, it's got a much different style than SG. From all I can hear, all endorsements from people who have played the game sound like it's a fine game to learn as a first fighter. One or two things may not fall in line with what you might think are healthy ways to learn, however mostly it's straight forward. Lots of people disagree with what makes a good fighter as well, so it comes down to personal decisions in the end. It helps the game has a fresh new community, with lots of new players as well as experienced players. I'm finding plenty of people who know what they're doing in game that have helped me leagues.

Game is actually really solid. Simple enough that new players can pick up the basics pretty quickly, but there's a lot of depth for advanced players to figure out and develop a real competitive scene. I'm not that good, but more experienced people seem to feeling the same way.
The biggest flaw is the tiny cast, but supposedly there's going to be at least 3 DLC characters, and the characters that are in the game are very diverse so it's not as bad as it could be. The only major archetype not represented is big heavy grappler. Balance seems good so far, I suspect a couple characters will need some tuning down once people figure them out, but no one seems unusable or unbeatable. If they can keep the character designs at this level, 9 or 10 would be easily enough.
My PC struggles to run the online and record at the same time, so I've only got a couple random training mode webms.

Persona and DBFZ are the only ones with truly giant hitboxes across most of the cast. Guilty Gear can have some stupid hitboxes, but most of them are pretty reasonable.

It's mostly because 1 to 1 matching of the collision to the sprite just makes for stubbier, far more specific moves in general, and on top of that, if a game goes with that approach, it also means that altering the properties of a move will require them to actually edit the sprite to make the move hit where they want it to.

Actually, Street Fighter IV tried this in its development stages. The game feels unnatural because of the way moves would prioritize against eachother. When hitboxes were normalized across the board, jabs were insanely strong because they could outspeed and outprioritize any moves the opponent would throw at you. This led to jabs and disjointed hitboxes (eg Rose's scarf or any sort of projectile) dominating the playtester metagame. When strong moves beat out jabs and fierce moves beat out strong moves, fierce moves dominated the game because nothing could compete with them.
There's an article about it somewhere, but it's been so long that I can't for the life of me remember where. Hitboxes are a natural part of fighting games, and it's a lot easier to balance a game around hitboxes that interact exactly how you want them to than it is to balance it around sprites that might not interact in ways you intended.

The thing is, hitboxes have been a staple of fighting games – and video games as a whole – for decades. Trying to map damage zones and vulnerability zones per frame of animation onto a model would take an inordinate amount of time and would likely be less efficient than just using hitboxes in the first place. On the flip side, using the models themselves as a bizarre hitbox-hurtbox combo will inevitably result in oddities. Mapping boxes onto attacks will ensure that the attacks are consistent 100% of the time, and it encourages players to become knowledgeable about the game as well as mechanically skilled.

That game allocated thousands of dollars during crowdfunding to hitboxes (bit of a meme, but still true) and those hitboxes will be ignored much of the time because of the stupidly long combos. Furthermore, having 1:1 hitboxes means you can't simply nerf a move by clicking a few buttons - you need to change animations and everything about the move, which may influence its "readability."
Skullgirls was patched a million times, which was fine due to MikeZ's autism, but impractical for most people.
Even a game like Tekken, where the appeal is using incredibly precise hitboxes to make your opponent's attacks miss, has bullshit. All high attacks will miss crouching opponents, so even if your hand moves through the other guy's face it still counts as a miss. You just can't get away from wonky hitboxes/hurtboxes in fighting games.

Cities have limited interactivity, yes, and some characters have mechanics that tie into building destruction (or so it's planned anyways, we haven't started development on those particular ones).

Okay, but game designer to game designer here, I'm not here to troll you- you need to seriously consider why you're putting it in, the effects it will have on the game itself, and more. If they shrink during gameplay, it entirely changes the game, probably to the point you wont be able to balance or work it out mechanically. In a different game, maybe, but a fighter? I don't think the word you are looking for is 'unfair,' its more that the player that knows both his own character's general range AND your character's general range is going to have an edge against the player that doesn't really have a grasp on both, and knowing something like that doesn't even take studying hitboxes or anything, that's just the kind of match-up knowledge you get from playing. Characters are toolkits, and the guy who knows better how his tools function is going to have distinct advantage over the guy who doesn't, plain and simple.
Fighting games are largely about learning and then applying knowledge, and that starts with how these games generally work. Hitboxes and other under the hood shit are definitely concepts you want to be aware of if you are new to the genre, but actually getting decent is more of just getting a feel for the games from playing and practicing than studying any specifics.

Oh yeah, the fighting game aspect of it, and in particular the giantess thing is more recent. Before this I've thought of many different ways of getting it out there until finally I decided a game would be the coolest way to introduce it and the giantess aspect lends a neat hook to it.

Tianhuo is actually pretty good against Oleander. Her forward dash low profiles fireballs if you time it right, her 1D magic flip has a trajectory that is very hard for her to cover without a hard read, and you can blow up any of her projectiles or traps except lvl 3 page with attacks and her 5b and 2b are fantastic at it.
I haven't found any matchups that feel impossible, but some are harder than others and there's definitely some specific knowledge required.

Furry is more of a self-given title that makes it easier to find talking animal cartoons.
