B)If it was a passing troll, the ban discourages it, it gets bored and leaves (knowing consecutive bans are of greater time)
The underlying problem is this:
If the shitposter/cuckchaner is really commited, they can circumvent it really easy.
Also IP bans are useless and create future problems.
Only helpful thing is to ban them temporarily, and when they IP-hop, people report them so they get banned again
Repeat until the shitposter is bored.
