To be honest, it's a shame that so many people don't even try to make a spiritual successor to Alien as a series - because at this point, it's become fucked to oblivion. Start from scratch, use Giger as a base, throw in some Beksinski, and VOILA - you have an aesthetic. Strictly speaking, that exact scenario of 'clumsily drop large static object onto dangerous creature to one-shot it' is something that very precisely happens in Dark Souls 1, where the first Fang Boar you meet can get crushed by the Undead Parish portcullis. Getting blockaded on some level by an insurmountable enemy early on also features with the Demon Vanguard, the Asylum Demon if you don't notice the side gate, goblins eating your knees in Things Betwixt if you try to dick with them, and the first wolf-beast in the clinic in Bloodborne being suicidal to confront on a fresh save if you don't draw him away from the surgical tables that prevent you from dodging around behind for a backstab, which deals huge damage even with no weapon. The only thing that's never happened is all three combined into a puzzle miniboss that needs to get killed by the environment to open a path.

It's enjoyable. If you like the original Alien aesthetic, you'll enjoy it. Most fun playthrough style is when you don't attack any human characters yourself and instead use the xeno as your weapon. It just gets to be a pain in the ass at times with the AI rubberbanding the xeno to patrol non stop on top of you despite you being super silent.
There is one part in the medical wing where you have to hack a door. The process, even if done perfectly, takes around 30 seconds is standing in the middle of the room. Even with the flamethrower, bait, or other things on hand, most of the time you'll be hard pressed to finish it before the xeno grabs you.
the best bait for the xeno is a flair. Use it when it's just walking around and it'll crouch and stare at it until the flare burns out. When it's pissed and vent hopping like a nigger on speed, the noisemaker will help, but mainly it's for using the xeno like a weapon towards other human characters
