UE4 is pretty flexible in the graphics department, you can tweak it and get whatever results you want, so I'd say it's Bamco's fault.
UE4 gets pretty shitty with fighting games due to its laggy input, it's the reason why SFV has 5-6 frames of input lag.

Anything made for 360/PS3 is fairly cheap now. Just make sure the buttons/joystick aren't worn out. Even if they are you can replace them for fairly cheap ($20 for a new Sanwa joystick and about $0.50-$4 per button depending on what you get). You can get an adapter to make it work on PS4 for about $30 or replace the internal PCB with a new one for around $100.

The costumes in the first 3 games (SB, SC and SC2) have a somewhat believable simplicity and practicality about them, like something the characters scrounged up, were given or crafted/smithed but then start getting nonsensically complicated like how V Ivy has a tux jacket and no pants (weird meld of her I-II alts) and a absurdly decorated shoulder piece; did she walk into a blacksmith like "I want a snake head with a skull inside its mouth" or something?
It's a odd thing to whine about but the world building was one of the things that made me love the series; most scenery looked like it was made to be a sincere depiction of contemporary times and supplemental artwork showed that characters with odder outfits would wear travel garb. Now they might as well be MOBA characters fighting in Middle Earth.
I'm conflicted about SCVI; all the redesigns look very close to the originals but that new character alone is an Abigail tier eye sore.

It has two auto-combos but they're not real auto-combos. It sounds tricky but first let me explain what they are. There's one from pressing light attack and the followup (still pressing light attack) and the other from pressing medium attack.
But here's the trick. The auto-combo is not purely coincidental, as in you can mix into it other attacks before letting it finish and launch a real combo. There's a unique move that pops up just from following the auto-combo that you can't do without following it. Imagine if they placed a unique command normal at the end and you can chain it to a special technique. This makes this less lazy than just giving a casual some hope of being to play and more like a startup.

My thing with the forum was I could pick up a script my friend wrote or another one I'm very familiar with and throw together all the other stuff I mentioned (wiki/articles/video and picture gallery) quickly with them. It allows you to share the user database between all those features by using the one from the forum's database.
For now I'm just going to focus on collecting all the fightan vidya I can and putting together a page people can get it from. I'm going to make all my steam versions of recent games into stand alone/cracked versions starting with BB:CF. I want to focus on that because it's a PITA to find most PC versions of fightan games in stand alone format at the moment and if you do they usually don't have all the DLC.
I won't be hosting them on the webserver itself but I will be making torrents and uploading them to one-click hosters and making sure they're on IPFS. Once I get a lot of them released I'm going to see what I can do about making the netplay work for some of them that don't already have unofficial matchmaking servers. Sometime in the far off future I'd love to have something like fightcade that supports voice chat/modern fightan games but it's a pipe dream of mine for now.
If any of you guys have ideas or want to help out let me know I'm always lurking the /fightan/ general. I have a pretty decent VPS to host this site on right now and if needed I'll throw a few extra bucks and upgrade it once I get the actual site built and see how well it holds up to the load.
Also guys if anyone could help me scrape the tech sub-forums at the SRK forums I'd appreciate it so much. There is a ton of information related to building arcade sticks in that forum and it's going to get deleted by the end of the month. I can't believe they're shutting down that forum since it's still really active. They said they want to focus more on social media. Bastards.

The soundtrack's pretty shit. It's bland and doesn't even feel like Dragon Ball, so they could've just gone with Ishiwatari to get something that might not fit, but at least sound really good. Another problem is the tracks are 2 or max 2.5 minute long, then it just repeats. Too fucking short, and they feel like they lack an ending, stronger part to drive a point. Weakest part of the game I think, too bad it's a pretty crucial one. I only like Beerus' theme and Goku's a bit, but even there I feel like they for some reason cut out the last parts.

Another thing about training mode that's retarded is they got the block stance option mixed up. If it's on don't switch, the enemy will go from crouching to standing whenever he feels like so he'll block everything if he is on Block All. When I turned it to the blue option which says the enemy will be standing up, he doesn't get up from crouching stance so I can check which specials break it. Minor bug, but annoying as for a second I almost thought crouching block is literally impossible to break through without dragon rush, which confused me since I saw different shit during matches.

You know what fucks me about this? Her glide. There are a million character you can rip off glides from, and they even have the 3D model so they don't need to animate individual frames like a sprite artist would. Despite that, what we get looks awful. In theatre, you'd say her blocking is awful - that is, her closer legs and arms obscure her face and torso. It's unacceptable. Fuck, just rotate the model 25 degrees and she's probably look fine.

DBFZ single-handedly changed my opinion of tag fighters, and if it didn't have Denuvo I'd be eating it up and learning assist timings like everyone else. FighterZ has hype going for it since it is new, not MvC, easy to smash learn but hard to smash master, Dragon Ball and all, but even without Denuvo I think the game is going to die down (still active of course) in a couple of months. That's true of any tag game, and personally I didn't notice it. It might be worse than usual because there are only level 1 and 3 supers, and characters only have one assist each.

I think that's something which will improve as people become more familiar with the game. Given the preponderance of beam projectiles and a dedicated projectile button, I can't say I'm surprised. I think they want neutral to be slower than in, say, Marvel, so players are less overwhelmed with visual noise. Features like that and the EXTREMELY generous crossup blocking (the game appears to accept all blocks as valid if you are "locked" in blockstun and then crossed up, for instance) will likely drive away tourney players, but then again all the 236 motions and fanservice should have told you their audience was the Dragon Ball fan rather than the tag fan.
I don't blame you for feeling that way, of course. I just haven't had much of a chance to actually play and figure out how to play neutral, so I'm willing to give it the benefit of the doubt.

Basically this. It succeeded in what it was meant to do and aside from Bamco's Denuvo, it didn't disappoint. I've had some very satisfying matches and explored some of the depth it has, but I'll be playing Rev2 again real soon. I need to emphasize, it does have an enjoyable amount of depth. Maybe it's just me but it feels like the non-saiyan characters have the most depth. I'll need to play it more to confirm. Right now Yamcha, Piccolo, and either Tien or Hit make me happy.
The one thing I wish I could take home with me is the netcode. I wasn't expecting to have functional matches fighting against people who have 0 bars. I wouldn't have even accepted the fight if I didn't press accept by reflex but I was pleasantly surprised that the fight while not smooth was playable. Meanwhile in Xrd, that's a fantasy, most times 2 bars isn't playable.

I think they hired a vorefag to do 21's lines, they're really shallow ones until 21's arc where they split and you use 21's good side who does none of that shit personality wise. They focus waaaaaay too much on 21 eating in her ground ultimate, not even Majin Buu fat/kid get that much focus on their eat moves.
She's a really good character fightwise though since her Lvl3 ground candy thing heals her and her Lvl3 air is super fucking fast on entry.
Her stabbing gimmick is unblockable and three versions can be comboed into while the last ground stab-grab needs you to be good at predicting the opponent. She requires knowledge of all styles of play. zoning, pressure, mixup and rushdown are all possible with her, and a lot of her moves are shared with other characters and have the same properties. Her only issue is learning what move you absorb does what, though you can just play her as a character who just uses the grabs to power up her destruction ball and focus on her normals.
She's got nice tits though.

Do you guys play only one game 24/7? A friend bought the game for the PS4 and brought to our almost biweekly meetups. We as Dragon Ball fans loved the interactions between characters and, besides one of us, none liked UMvC3 or MvCI so we all liking to play the game for hours was a pleasant surprise. The game looks to be deeper than it looks with many "secret" stuff like Cell's and #18 controlling their fireballs. Autocombos are useful to fill meter and autocorrects jumps so you can tag in to do big damage with you anchor. I just want to know what to do with Yamcha's normals but Tenshinhan is just great to play.
But it's not like we all only played that. We usually have 2~3 setups in a place where people mostly play boardgames and Magic. DBFZ along with Samurai Shodown V Special made more casuals interested in playing with us. There's always one 3D fightan on too (usually DOA5LR or VF5FS) and MKXL/Injustice available. But it's not like I did stop playing KOFXIV I even got '98 just to play there and not bring my notebook everytime or Blazblue all 3 of us..
In case you're wondering about Street Fighter, people there only care about Alpha2/3 and 3rdStrike so we're all just praying Capcom don't fuck up with that collection.

It's really fun and worth picking up a Wii for. I think you'd like it because they simplified the controls but things don't get too crazy and there aren't many touch of death situations in the game. Check out both versions, the Japanese one has a character that didn't get in the US version and there are other minor differences like the background music changing during tags. If you do manage to play it try to git gud with Roll before you play friends. I love trolling people with her healing super. I timer scam with it like a total scrub.

I have multiple set ups for them but mainly play on PC when it's just me or me and one friend. Hence why DRM begin bundled with games makes me so mad. Capcom sent me a rootkit and now Bamco has pulled a bait and switch on me twice with their DRM. Sega got me this year too. Seems like every game I _want_ to buy comes with some form of bullshit so I just end up pirating them instead. Plus, when you run multiple PC set ups you end up pirating games just so you don't have to jump through so many hoops or maintain multiple accounts on services like Steam. The only reason I even own consoles these days is due to the fact that it's easier for everyone to use whatever controller/stick they brought.
Speaking of, does everyone's local scene have that one faggot that can't decide what type of controller he wants to use? We have this guy that keeps asking to borrow sticks, then complains because he lost using the stick so we have to dig out a controller for him. The controller is never to his liking and if he brings his own he always complains that he just recently broke. Two years we've dealt with him using it as an excuse for losing. I once spent the better part of an hour switching out controllers for him when he was playing on a PC set up. He also stays on his phone constantly and holds up games. We even had to DQ him once during a cash tournament for that. I don't even know why he comes out to locals. If his friend wasn't such a cool guy we would have told him to take a hike months ago.

Oh guys since I'm here I thought I'd update y'all on fightan.moe. I decided for now just to have an archive of software, ROMs, and repacks of PC ports. I'm currently trying to figure out where I'm going to upload all this stuff. Some of it I can host on the server but the bigger stuff will have to be offsite. I'll probably use magnet links/IPFS and upload what I can to multiple places like mega.
I'm going to start with the latest versions/updates for games then get the older ones up as I can since I know some folks like playing things before they were balanced or nerfed. For now I have a place holder page up. Sorry for the delay I've been a bit busy and it took me awhile to get the server set-up like I wanted. Still not done yet but it's good enough to host basic HTML for now.

I also have the entire Nesicaxlive set which are great but a PITA to run properly sometimes. I'm including those on the archive but I'd love to take a crack at making them easy to install/configure in the near future. The existing loaders are okay but things could be better for sure and I need to freshen up on my programming skills anyway.

Even if I were to ignore the degenerate pony fan characters, I don't see anything appealing about the gameplay. For example there's clearly no grapplers or characters who can do huge damage off single hit moves. There isn't really a huge variety of playstyles. All of the characters seem to play very similar, and there's only 6 of them.
Just winning over the non-ponyfags to play this game is already an uphill battle. But even among pony fans most of whom are pretty autistic, they won't understand a competitive fighting game. So the very most I can see them doing is dipping into it for the story mode and then taking a hike once that's over.
I'm fully convinced that outside of the furrybucks that funded this game's development, it's going to be a flop.

I don't know if I'l be playing after a few months but it's been years since I was so interested in a new IP. Maybe the last one was Skullgirls but that game ended up too reset heavy for me and before that was Blazblue and that was 10 years ago! Arcana Heart and P4U were pleasant surprises but the latter one probably due to having lots of similiarities to KOF2002 with its Shadow characters.
I loved BlazblueCT when it first came out and at the time never played Guilty Gear before so it was kind of my first "anime fighter" besides MvC games coming from a NeoGeo, UMK3 and Street Fighter background. Bought Continuum Shift as soon it came out and its DLCs but got really pissed at the Extend bullshit. Waited a lot to get CP at discount just to have another Extend barely played both. Mostly the story, arcade and stuff shoved into my face and just got Central Fiction when Jubei was announced. So even if I find the games to be fun, after that burnout I never recovered the same "thrill" to play so we mostly play to have fun and not to "git gud". I'm honestly more surprised by the reactions of people to Cross Tag having all that DLC planned than the fact itself.
Besides the context, Blazblue kind of has a lot of bullshit and character specific stuff like invul values and gimmicks. ArcSys sometimes makes no sense with balance updates sometimes turning tierlists upside down with a single patch or new iteration. And that comes from a guy who main game is KOF'98 for the last… 20 years which has unblockable setups, moves literally called "proximity unblockables" and like 5~6 viable characters at high level.
'98 is also a pretty simple game with two grooves modifiying movement, meter and defensive options. No RC stuff and that's my main complain against 98UMFE along with Eiji so the combo flow is pretty linear besides few exceptions. The damage is also really high so one mistake can be crucial to lose your character in a few hits only surpassed by SamSho where almost to no combos and huge damage on punishes are the main thing.

Going to work on fightan.moe some more today. I really need to get another HDD so I can back-up all my fightan related files. I don't get paid, in fact I go in the hole several hundred dollars on each one because I match the pot for all games. I also spend money on: propane to heat the place, pizza/food, alcohol (we supply all beer/liquor) although there is a tip jar but it's never enough to cover what they drink. I also supply all of the consoles, monitors/TVs, games, most of the controllers (especially the sticks) and have to repair anything that gets broken (controllers and cabinets mostly). We've got a projector screen already set-up inside there and I have multiple low-lag LCD/LED monitors plus many CRTs for older games. I'll put out whatever is requested on the floor on both casual and tournament set-ups.
Let me know….going to spend a few more hours working on fightan.moe and then call it a night. Gotta set-up for a superbowl party tomorrow. Don't watch the stuff myself anymore but my Grandmother loves it so I'm going to get the work done to make her happy.

I don't know much about Kuririn. Found his short limbs and weird Chizuru/Hibiki/Makoto clones not for me. Spaming Kienzan is fun but Tenshinhan's Kikoho's are crazy. As for sinergy, I would say Yamcha and Tenshinhan work so well together that it looks like they were made this way. Dodonpa is great to follow combos from air to setup another Rogafufuken and that assist can also be great to extend combos after the volleyball or setup a Kikoho.
In a way, Yamcha has a hard time to do actual damage but builds meter like crazy and Tenshinhan can spend meter to hit really hard.

Yamcha always played the cool guy. He was after the main girl and had many great moves. That fight agains Tenshinhan sadly was his last time to shine since from that point onwards the powerlevel started scaling really hard in Goku favor. His episode in Super is one of the best. I'm kind of glad he wasn't in ToP since they treated Tenshinhan so poorly. The guy could kiai energy based attacks by just looking and tanked hits before the bald alien in spandex started doing that. At least if they got Trunks of something we wouldn't have a Kikoho spammer that didn't even got a single clean victory.

Tien's assist has a huge explosion that may be able to be used to make ambiguous high/low mixups with Krillin's special or left/right mixups with yamcha. Assist calls mostly seem to be best for setplay or pressure rather than just combo extensions and all three of those characters' assists fit right into that mold.

Team human is actually some really good shit. The only issue is that Tien and Krillin are both meter hogs. Krillin needs to burn meter to actually do decent damage, and Tien just shits damage with it.
