The map didn't download properly, either the hostfag fucked up or it's on your end so ask ITT. If you're a Linuxfag make sure you have libcurl installed. This may also occur on a 0.8.2 map while using an outdated client. Worst case this should go away when the map changes.

This means another instance of Xonotic is still running, open task manager (or bearded hippie Linux equivalent) and kill the Xonotic process.
If you actually want to run multiple instances of Xonotic, you can launch it in the command line with '-sessionid <arbritrary string>' as the launch parameter.

This is a normal occurence for high latency (~200+ ms).
If you're a Linuxfag ensure that background processes aren't using too much RAM and if you're on a toaster try turning graphics settings down.

Open the console (~ key) and type vcall followed by one of the following (e.g. vcall smallmaps):
smallmaps sets the server to a map rotation suitable for 2-5 players
bigmaps sets the server to a map rotation suitable for 6+ players
easycts sets the server to a map rotation of easy race maps
allready forces the match to leave warmup and start
+xpm enables pro mode mod (extra rules regarding item pickups)
+bots enables bots
-bots disables bots
Note that you'll have to redo a map vote if the gamemode changes.

In the console, type "exec input-demoseeking.cfg"
Above will create seeking functionality and bind the keys [m] and [,] to rewind, 30 seconds and 5 seconds interval respectively; [.] [/] to fast forward, 5 second and 30 seconds respectively.
The "seekdemo" command in console, jumps to specified point in time (seconds).
The "slowmo" command in console can either slow the playback of the demo (parameter is less than 1) or fast forward (parameter greater than 1).

Default key is F3. You can cycle between players with right and left mouse buttons.

Point your crosshair at it, and press F by default or your bind for the drop flag function.

Race CTS: Compete for the fastest time on race tracks and obstacle courses.

What killed it for me is the bad hit registration with the awfully balanced and also redundant weapon choices. It doesn't feel like other arena shooters where each gun has a niche and fills it in some way, this one has two guns per niche and there's no reason to use one when you have the better one already. Combine that with the fact that the game can count two projectile shots as different damages despite being in the nearly same locations just because of how unreliable hit detection is and it's just not a fun game to play especially from a background of playing other arena shooters like Quake 3 and Unreal Tournament.

You still have strafe jumping as the primary method of acceleration. Autohop is a problem for Quake and Reflex because their trick jumps are double jumps which require manual presses. The trick jumps in Xonotic are ramps that you slide up which isn't based on manual presses at all.

Hit detection gets worse for projectiles when you have a couple hundred ping but is fine if there's a server on your continent. Looks like three are covered. Care to cover a fourth? So he's a regular player then, who is used to dealing with the broken netcode. The netcode is still wonky compared to other arena shooters, and when you deal with speeds this fast in a game even a tiny amount of lag can mean a big difference between where something might be a hit and actually is a hit.

I notice for the few times Race CTS does get played, people are picking this map. Screenshot is the current state of the leaderboards. Excluding usual Xonoticfags, the fastest time is currently 34.17 seconds.
We can make the mode slightly more interesting by making it the map to compete for fastest times.
You need to enable both stats and name tracking for the server to put you on the leaderboard, but you can go back into spectators before the match ends to prevent it from registering you to XonStats.

Bots tend to idle around if there aren't any waypoint files on the map. It's particularly the case with custom maps; for servers it's up to the admin to manually create those - which /v/ has those custom waypoints too.
