I decided to play the PS1 version on my PSP because the original emulates like shit on the SNES emulator and having buttons is nice, but I am trying to get used to how I am supposed to play this game exactly.

just how expendable are my units? I dont see an option to recruit generics in the first three maps, Im a bit reluctant to send them off to battle if they are not at full health because Im worried they might get penalties to experience points or anything

apparently having low alignment while taking a city can fuck you over if you dont want to get bad ended, is it viable to have a dedicated town liberating unit filled with high alignment units that never get sent to battle?

can I sit around collecting gold for future maps or do I have some sort of time limit to complete maps? I was thinking of looking every nook and cranny of the maps for secret towns while I have the boss surrounded but it might be better to come back later once the map is liberated

Your units are expendable but you're gonna want to keep units around for a long time. Because of the way growths work units you raise yourself will be way stronger than recruited generics. As for recruiting generics certain classes can recruit only on certain towns, knights should be able to recruit new generic fighters I believe.

And yes you can have high alignment units recruit high alignment cities. You can have them have high alignment and still fight just as long as the enemy is not under their level and preferable a lower aliment you will be fine. Check the morale of cities before you take them. I believe +/- 25 of what the overall units alignment. If they are EXACTLY neutral(50) they could range from 25 morale to 75 morale.

And finding secrets is honestly best if you come back later with flying units. Theres 2 types of flying, high and low I think. Griffns and Wyrms provide high flying, which is faster than low but they require more space. You can make your units low flying with a hawkman as long as the classes in the unit are not heavy units.

This game sounds more complex than later entries in the TO series (I've only played LUCT original and the GBA one).

>Recruiting based on unit type

That's clever, I like it

is there some sort of delay when you input directions on the snes version? I tried out the snes version on an emulator but for some reason moving units feels more awkward than on my PSP, the flag takes a fraction of a second to accept your button press and I find it really annoying, I dont think its input lag because everything else seems fine

I've only ever played it on Zsnes, the flag usually takes a bit idk activate. You place it and it waves for like 0.3 seconds. Maybe its the snes version.

>emulates like shit

Sure you don't just have a bad ROM? I'd try a few different sources or something.

Oh, I see. Yeah, there's a bit of delay, no idea why. Maybe to keep from making fuckups.

I meant that it emulates like shit on Snes9xTYLmecm, thats the SNES emulator for the PSP, it runs most games I tried, but Ogre Battle has some graphics missing and the audio is fucked

Yup, that's the beauty of the game. Every unit have different units that they can recruit depends on what class is the leader. Too bad they ruined everything in OB64. I hated that game and won't recognize it as a worthy successor of Ogre Battle.
