It's the same lead writer as was under Archie, and he never had that stuff in those comics. He's also the guy that saved the comics from Penders's awful writing, in the first place. IDW's editors might be an issue, but SEGA was rather strict with Archie after Penders left, and I doubt that'll change for IDW.

From what I remember someone detailing when that issue of the IDW Transformers comic come out, there actually wasn't suppose to be any "female" Transformers even in G1. It's worse than that, let me explain. So back when Simon Furman was writing the IDW comics, Transformers weren't gendered/sexed/whatever'd because they're robots that basically reproduce through bursting out of the planet. Then Jiaxus did science and turned Arcee into a girl which drove her crazy because would you want to be turned into a girl (don't answer that). Then later on this lore was thrown out because the fans voted for a new character, Windblade, and Hasbro has to shill their newest toys, so now there used to be female Transformers but they all left the planet or some shit. Ironically the "we got inspired by other species" idea makes more sense and fits better with canon, as well as patches over a continuity goof where a couple of classic female Transformers showed up in a group shot. It's still fucking retarded though because why should robots have to be anything like fleshlings, emputura is stupid and Whirl and Shockwave are just cool guys who look weird to us because they're alien robots. Transformers is crappy sci-fi and I could do so much more for that. At least let me make a Go Bot's comic, Hasbro, it's not like you're doing anything with it!

I find the Combat and leveling in Heroes to be really enjoyable. even if it wasn't that complex compared to the rest of the series Heroes combat has far more depth in how you approach enemies. (save for the werehog but i found the werehog to be unbearably slow.) Depending on who is leveled up that will change who you want to use for combat you will also want to strategize who you want to get leveled up at checkpoints, on top of that all the Team blasts having unique properties during the cool down was great.

Yeah, I guess I can see the appeal of that, but in my opinion, everything felt a lot worse to control than Adventure 2, so having the multiple options open didn't appeal to me much. I'm watching you. It's slippery like you said, but it's also slow, floaty, and places a heavier focus on combat, which most people didn't want. Controls are nearly everything in a Sonic game, so of course it gets criticized heavily.
It's also because of the tone of the game. The cutscenes and voices became completely obnoxious, rather than just dangerously campy. They dropped the serious tone and went back to the generic saturday morning cartoon tone, rather than trying to refine their attempts at seriousness. It's an understandable move, even though people really liked SA2's tone, but then they still decided to bring back Shadow. His reintroduction felt cheap, made his death in SA2 basically meaningless, and put the series in a weird place where there are still dark topics looming, even though the games weren't allowed to take them seriously enough for their own good anymore, which is what led to shit like Shadow The Hedgehog. Watching them trying to resolve Heroes' blunder in Shadow the Hedgehog's retarded story just felt like insult to injury rather than any kind of justification for Shadow's return. His role in Sonic Battle was the only positive to his resurrection.

Honestly, it's only Team Dark that makes it a slog, as all its levels are longer, harder versions of Team Sonic's. Team Rose's levels are both much shorter and easier than Team Sonic's. Team Chaotix varies the gameplay up by making you perform alternate objectives to beat the stages, though it can get frustrating if you miss something and have to loop through the stage again to find it, but they add warp points to the levels to help minimize that.

Reminds me that the official Sega board and blog was neglected post 2014/Sonic Boom and it only intensified following their decision to switch their marketing and community interaction through Twitter, Youtube, Facebook, streams such as Twitch, etc. to the point where they had shut down the Forums this Hedgehog Day. Go read all the old Marvel comics. They're the only good ones. US, UK, G2, it's all good. Then Beast Wars and Beast Machines are good sequels and give you a nice ending. And if you're really starved for more, read the convention exclusive stuff. Much of it is prose, but it's still good if you're autistic enough to give a shit. The only problem is that the final story of this bunch leads into a crossover that requires you to watch Robots in Disguise and the Unicron Trilogy, which are shit. But you can just stop there. Shadow the Hedgehog's story is great. Further explores the backstory of Adventure 2, and it's only darker than Adventure 2 if you want it to be, because somehow this is actually one of the best examples of morality having an effect on your story in a video game. So you can choose to be dark as fuck, or you can choose to be a hero. The overall story, told largely by revealing flashbacks which would thus be canon no matter what path you take, tries to teach Shadow to stop being an edgy faggot all the time. Most people keep saying this game is all about Shadow being an edgy faggot, but it's the exact opposite. He actually learns and develops into a legit cool stoic, non-edgy, badass with a heart of gold. But then the only game after this where he's relevant is '06, so nobody cares, even though he's actually really cool in that.
The only interesting part of Sonic Battle's story is saying that Maria had AIDS. It isn't worth playing the shit gameplay twice to get that secret scene, though.

In regards to Riverdale, I watched the first episode, and it's way darker than you can imagine. The plot, I kid you not, is that Cheryl Blossom was having an incestuous relationship with her brother, and one night they're out fucking on a boat and he dies, so the show is solving the mystery of who killed him. The twist is that Archie saw everything, but he can't tell anybody because he was getting molested by Ms. Grundy at the time, and she told him that if he told anyone he'd get in trouble.
It's not the fun "Archie's Weird Mysteries" dark, it's not even Smallville or Arrow dark like you'd expect from CW. It's straight up "Archie got child molested by Ms. Grundy and she told him he'd get in trouble if he told anyone" dark.

Honestly, spoke nothing but the truth there. The main purpose for the comics, in general (whether it be from America, Europe, even Australia), were to promote the games. For each time Archie tried to create their own story arc, they always had to coincide that with the current Sonic game's story, they were forever bind to do this. Additionally, the only reason as to why we had the Archie characters reference in Sonic Spinball, was because it was developed by American developers for Sonic Team (The STI, back when they were a thing.)
So whenever some fuck said during the time that Archie characters should be in a Sonic game, I was always like, end yourself.
