Are you hyped /v/?

http://www.xseedgames.com/2018/01/11/a-launch-date-is-served-zwei-the-arges-adventure-to-release-for-pc-on-january-24/

>Set on the mysterious time-forgotten floating continent of Arges, Zwei: The Arges Adventure follows the exploits of socially awkward teenage step-siblings Pokkle and Pipiro as they find their monotonous, ho-hum village life rudely interrupted by a mysterious figure who steals six holy idols from the local shrine. Pokkle, a master craftsman of terrible puns and wannabe hero, and Pipiro, a sarcastic mage-in-training with an obsession for fashion and a penchant for speaking her mind no matter how bad an idea that may be, jump at the chance to track down the masked thief and return the idols to their village – Pokkle for the fame, glory, and opportunities to make more puns, and Pipiro purely for the hefty reward on offer. Their adventures will take them to every corner of the continent, leading them to encounter a wide array of over-the-top friends and foes as they uncover a far more sinister plot to revive an ancient “Demon Lord” and get a very up close and personal lesson on nearly 500 years’ worth of Arges history.

>Originally developed and released in Japan by Nihon Falcom on PC and PlayStation Portable, and ported to the PlayStation 2 in Japan by Taito, Zwei: The Arges Adventure is the direct predecessor to Zwei: The Ilvard Insurrection and will be the first time this title has been made officially available in the West.

>Boasting a gorgeous hand-drawn 2D world populated by a diverse cast of allies and enemies who are constantly on the move, Zwei: The Arges Adventure also represents one of the formative examples of Nihon Falcom’s now-signature multi-character action RPG combat, enhanced here with smoother and more intuitive gamepad support and a bevy of other optimizations for modern PC systems. This title also features the series’ unique food-based leveling system, giving players more direct control over the game’s difficulty by allowing them to choose how quickly their characters grow in power: will they save food for later so they can exchange it for better food and more level-ups, gorge early on for a more metered experience gain, or fast altogether for a truly hardcore challenge?

Is it possible for Falcom to release a bad game?

>its under 20 bucks too

things just look better and better

I think this will end up being the comfiest JRPG localized this year.

I've also been following Xseed's localization blogs and they've really put effort into making this the best version of the game possible

>Anyway, speaking of finding very well-hidden things, this game also has 16 collectible “bromides” in it. Remember the bromides from Lunar? Yeah, they’re kind of like that, only… less naughty.

>In fact, in the original Japanese, they were MUCH less naughty. Because they didn’t do anything. They were literally just collectible items that took up space in your inventory. Catch ‘em all, and you got… the satisfaction of knowing you caught ‘em all! Which is fine, of course, and certainly not without precedent – I’ve played many other games that have had similar collection elements in them – but we thought it was a little bit of a shame to have these items in the game without giving the player a chance to actually look at them. So… we contracted the same artist who drew all our achievement icons for both Zwei titles to draw full-sized images for all 16 bromides as well.

>Yep. The bromide pictured here is one of the easier-to-find ones (though none are actually easy to find), but there are 15 more out there, just waiting to be seen! (And like this one, most of the others have secret cameos in them by characters from other Falcom titles, added with the full support and permission of Falcom themselves.)

Personally I think it'll be as sleeper hit.

Nihon Falcom more like Needless Failcum

>Under 20 bucks on release

>16 bromides

So the game will take less than 10 hours to complete and be piss easy. At least Falcom didn't go with NISA to localize it.

>a collectible reflects on JRPG game length

What?

acdf1d No.14201369

>>14201358

When a collectible is being marketed as a feature in an RPG, it's because it has some kind of importance. The number of that macguffin is low but the price tag is the biggest indicator which leads me to believe it's short. Snake Pass (while being a platformer instead of an ARPG) went with a similar marketing pitch and it was easily possible to 100% it before the 10 hour mark. Had it been a classical turn based JRPG, I might have been convinced otherwise only because of the grind.

>Zwei 2

Nigga the one we got a few weeks ago was 2. This is the first one, released earlier because the localization and port fixing took a lot of time or something.

>>14201352

The recently released sequel had plenty of challenge, though most of it was from hard modes and the default one was average with a few spikes. Xseed said this one is noticeably harder, though how much they can be trusted to judge that I'm not sure.

The guy from SoulCalibur V got his own games?

>most of it was from hard modes and the default one was average with a few spikes

So, kinda like Ys? At least there's a replayability factor. If it's a port of the old one, the price tag suddenly makes sense.

ab46a8 No.14201390

>>14201369

Its not marketed as a feature, it was mentioned in a localization blog and it had literally no purpose in the original

>Snake Pass, while being a platformer

>while being a platformer

this is literally comparing seeds in apples and oranges anon

>Nigga the one we got a few weeks ago was 2. This is the first one, released earlier because the localization and port fixing took a lot of time or something.

Fuck you're right I mistyped it, that's embarrassing

>>14201382

Did you not watch the trailer or read anything in the OP?

695a0c No.14201391

>>14201369

It's being marketed because the original just had them as collectable items in your inventory, and they got an artist to draw extra art for them for this version. They're from sidequests or something I think, not sure since I just saw a bit of the announcement stream.

No didn't watch the trailer nor clicked the link. Disregard what I said, I suck cocks.

Did they manage to get those assets from the PSP version in? I remember they said they were trying to get a hold of the original artist to touch them up to a proper resolution when they first announced it but they said it was doubtful.
