We know it has micro-transactions. We know it has Always-Online to give it a "seamless transition" between single- and multi-player. We can assume it has Denuvo, since TPP did.

We can also assume it has tedious, unengaging resource grind and weapon-tiers like TPP and PW.

What pisses me off the most is knowing that I would probably still enjoy this game, but I don't think I have a bunch of friends willing to burn $40 on this probably mediocre survival sim.

Although, the whole defense prep thing doesn't seem very fun. It looks like a lengthy, tedious set-up wave if you want anything to go well. Skipping to the actual play part of the gameplay will probably be a considerable handicap, as would be single-player defense routines.

Face it, Metal Gear was always garbage. It never was a good series and those who say otherwise are fucking lying. Its story was boring, its writing has been trash since the get-go and the characters aren't original. Kojima is the J.J. Asperger's of Japan who can't do anything that's completely unique and unto itself - he has to copy everyone else's work because god forbid he make something that wouldn't be ripped straight from another source.

Metal Gear is a collection of inspirations wrapped up into a shitty game, wrapped up in an even shittier script. And yet all of you fucks praised it as though it was some momentous accomplishment for years and years - but NOW you hate on Kojima because of how much of a westaboo he is, and because it's popular to do so.

I hated on Kojima after playing Metal Gear Solid for the first time. It was trash fucking wrapped in trash, the writing was worse than most PS1 games at that time and the music was, at best, mediocre. Honest to god, Tenchu was the better game at the time and never received the credit that it was due, special thanks to FUCKING METAL GEAR.

Now we have Metal Gear Survive, which is going to be shit, special thanks to Konami being shit. However, and mark my words, it will have better writing and gameplay than any of the previous Metal Gear projects Kojima worked on.

It is not that tedious to sprint to gather enough resources or walker gears, teleport back to the workshop and build autistic defense systems with layers of different stuff. The worst part is the miner automatically destroying your barricades if they are within the red circle radius around the miner.

Melee combat feels like it was nigger-rigged into the fox engine. To dodge you have to unlock the skill, then hold aim button, move and press the dodhe button. It would be acceptable if the game was either cheaper or free. Players should be just entering the melee mode/unsheating their weapons after pressing the aim button while the melee weapon is being chosen.

You're assuming Konami wanted to put any effort beyond creating an on-rails AI, which also plays into the fact Survive is a tower defense at its core. It would make no sense for human soldiers to mindlessly rush into your base, not taking cover, falling for traps, etc. Zombies are the only way to achieve this, while still giving the world some suspension of disbelief.

Hell, I don't even care for the story, characters, or that the concept is painfully generic overall. Even with the current blueprint and without significant changes, Konami could have still made Survive really engaging and fun, but they've somehow managed to screw the foundations from MGSV with tedious additions and stupid tweaks, as far as I can tell.

I don't know how the final release will be balanced, but the beta put me off the whole thing after playing for just a few hours.

I guess knowing how little goodwill Konami has from the consumer base it seems like it would be a better idea to make a Metal Gear Solid V Portable Ops Plus type game rather than going the zombie survival route especially considering how they have so many assets and hell even the enemy AI that they could just lift from MGSV's development. I mean one of the things people wanted most out of MGSV was running their own PMC so just do that with the Fox engine and maps from MGSV.

But I guess Konami needs to have a few more bombs on their hands before they decide to do anything sensible. Anyway speaking of the demo how was it, I have no personal interest in the game but I am curious to see how badly they could have fucked up something as generic as zombie survival.
