Played through Privateer using a modern stick. The games work if you ~~pirate~~get the GOG versions, they go through the trouble of getting Windows drivers working.

Me again. I have a Logitech Extreme 3D Pro Joystick and some GOG games, if this thread is still up when I get home I'll test things out and report back here. I know it isn't a true HOTAS setup, but it's what I have on-hand. Time to get these space games off the goddamned back-burner.

GOG doesn't do anything a normal person can't do, it's mainly getting DOSbox to quit acting retarded. Specific games that people remember (Frontier is definitely one of them) will usually have fansites or forums where people will help you get things running.

For Frontier: Elite 2 especially, it looks like a lot of people have put in some effort:

Freespace 2 SCP works fine with modern gear, except it doesn't support multiple perhipherals, so you need to get software to combine them all into one virtual device if you want grope two handfulls of hot ass.

I have pic related and it's fantastic. Can be had brand new for about 100 dollarydoos and has the same hall-effect sensors as their top-of-the-line Warthog. Also has a thumbstick on the throttle which is a godsend for strafing.

its great for the money

however it has a couple of issues that are just not there on regular 100 bux flightsticks, the rudder locks in position which is annoying with games that dont support that specific feature, its a bit squeaky after you break it in properly, it could definitely benefit from a couple more buttons and an additional coolie hat, and 3 of the buttons require you to loosen the grip to reach which I personally find annoying

but even with those in mind, you wont find a better one for the price
