Now, I know most anons here hate both pubg and fortnite, and that's fine. I'm not here to discuss the games themselves, but rather the reasons for their success, as well as which will ultimately succeed between the two. For any anons that don't know Fortnite was doing shit initially, until it added in the decreasing circle mechanic Pubg utilizes which helped to skyrocket its popularity and allow it to compete with Pubg. The devs of Pubg went so far as to try to sue the devs of Fortnite, claiming they were stealing their idea, despite the mechanics being used in other battle royale games long before either were invented.
Now, Pubg is out of early access with barely anything to show for it, and Fortnite is quickly catching up in players and twitch viewers, which as cancerous as twitch is, most anons have said that twitch was one of the driving forces behind Pubgs success. Also, Fortnite is free, and apparently has fore more often updates and content than Pubg to the point where people are claiming it will overtake Pubg and destroy it, in the same way Pubg destroyed H1Z1.
Now, my main questions are why was Pubg and Fortnite so successfull? Is it the lack of good games the past few years? Or the lack of a leading Battle Royale game since Quake? Or did they sucessfully combine the loot autism in the Dayz mod of Arma 2, combined with the battle royale elements of older shooters to make something new and addictive.
My second question is which you think will destroy the other, or if the obsession with the game is just a passing fad, which is going to fizzle out soon, as well as your reasons why.
