f79ead No.14128024

I've been getting to collect a number of consoles (emulation will never be a proper substitute to real hardware, for me) and I'm finding it hard to manage space. I'm a pretty lazy person, and I often find it hard to bother with playing games at all, let alone fish around in my closet for a console that's been sitting there for months. So to have easy access to any game, all of the consoles should be in one place, ready to plug in without having to move much stuff around. I thought this would be a common problem, but I've been having trouble with finding a desk to suit my needs.

Is there any such thing?

I was thinking of something like a desk with a few shelves, preferably with open fronts and with some kind of hole drilled through for the cords.

Why a desk though? Wouldn't it be easier to just get a display case or a book shelf instead?

That's slightly less convenient, I don't really want to have to buy a TV again

Why not put a lazy susan on a desk and store your consoles on it?

You could try converting a bunk bed/desk combo into a desk with a larger shelf if you have the money. As long as you make sure the shelf area gets dusted fairly regularly, it should work well.

Would that make it a lazy /v/irgin?

Build your own, it's not hard.

I built two custom shelves myself One part holds a TV, HDMI/AV switchers and 16 consoles. While the other holds a monitor, my HDDs and my computer.

Cost 110 bucks for wood and was piss easy to make. A fucking desk would be even easier to make

OP's dream setup is something that I'm surprised no one's gone out and done already. Can you imagine a modular shelf designed specifically to hold consoles? Maybe with some optional cooling units too that you can turn on for the newer generations?

Back when I had consoles, it's what I dreamed of and could have easily gotten since I have carpenters in the family. Never did go for it since I had no idea how many consoles I'd get and if I'd want to expand down the line. I think looking for a carpenter in your area to do such a thing is really your only option other than getting some decent, uniform shelves and stacking them side by side with a standalone desk.

OP a gaming laptop with emulators is all you need. Just buy the consoles to RIP games as you buy them. Since you obvious are a fag enough to buy them if you still are a console pleb.

Then you can just set up a tv stand with your laptop underneath it if you are pressed for space. Maybe create a dock you can use to plug in controllers with one usb cord or some such shit.

adjust the spacing of the shelves in pic related to make space for your tv. you can put floorstanding speakers on the sides of the shelves. thats basically my setup. except i only have a pc, integrated amp, tv, speakers, and used to have xbox1

I'm having a hard time picturing what you mean, but it really doesn't seem like a good idea to me

My autism doesn't go far enough that I actually care about owning the game carts (and if it did, I'd probably just flash the images onto some blank carts somehow and put some shitty labels onto them). I want to see the screen flicker just a bit as I turn the console on, and appreciate just how much the limited hardware of a console can do. As far as I'm concerned, emulators are only good for loading custom ROMs that are too good (badly optimised) for the real deal

You wouldn't need a gaming laptop to run most emus and it's the best solution. Sorry about your autism. You'll need to have a nerd cave like AVGN if you want to have tons of old consoles and play them comfortably.
