So I finally managed to get my PS3 hacked with a softmod by using PS3Xploit, but I'm new to the whole PS3 Homebrew scene. Anybody got some recommendations for CFW or other homebrew apps?

Should I buy an older PS3 or just wait for the exploit to become available for newer models of it? I've been debating it heavily.

My advice is to go ahead and buy an older model, they're mostly cheap and some fats still have the backwards compatibility anyway. If you buy a slim though, make sure the model number is 25xx or less because some later model slims have a minimum OFW of 3.60.

Thanks for the recommendation, but I can't seem to find the PS2 emulator settings you're talking about.

it's in the rebug settings under the games menu. if you don't have it, you likely didn't install rebug and are on ferrox or something.

If you can get them cheap and you are completely certain it's exploitable, they're a good system filling in ps1 and ps3 games very nicely, while ps2 emulation is sort of garbage unless it's an original 60gb ps3 from the us or japan.

Anyone know how to make a copy of the internal HDD? Im running Rebug 4.81 DEX, and I have an inkling the HDD is getting fucky. Is there any protection or does COBRA get rid of that? Hoe do I transfer the games and shit from 1 HDD to the other?

Use either Multiman, go into the desktop os mode and transfer it. Or use Irisman if you need NTFS support (larger ps2 isos/ps3 isos will definitely need NTFS.)
