have any of you played this? apart from combat, it looks mechanically the same as trails of cold steel. i’m leaning towards passing on this game, but i need more info to how it plays before i commit to passing on it.

It's like a 6/10. It's the Cold Steel engine, but gameplay-wise it's a basically sequel to Zwei 2. Which Nayuta no Kiseki also was but Tokyo Xanadu doesn't carry any of the improvements Nayuta made to the formula tbh. Also, the translation was cucked up with memes and inconsistencies by Aksys' B-team. (https://imgur.com/a/RgUTF) I'd say pirate it or buy it heavily discounted/used if you're on PS4.
