So, you might not remember this, and you are not alone, but MercurySteam released this game in 2017, and, while it does have a more healthy player base than Stillborn or JUSTBreakers, but it still really small.
But, after spending some hours on the free mission, what I understood:

While there is fun to have in a coop session, this game sure feels like an anomaly. And they still have two mission packs to deliver.
The game is on XBONE, STEAM and PS4. You can try the demo, and it allows for one level with other people, but, this is such an weird game, that, I don't know.
The question is, who was the public for this game exactly? What is making these companies just keep releasing these games, don't they have some type of marketing research?

The weapons feel very different between each character. It feels like I am playing Spawn on the Dreamcast all over again. I agree that the melee is overpowered, but at least you can counter melee attacks. The best part is the fact that there is a demo available on every platform, and you can play every level in group or alone too.

Seems to have received many bad reviews. Particularly people seems to complaint about an awful progression system, the co-op forcing you to go with 4 people, so no 3 or 2 players co-op, but worst of all a terrible micro transaction system, for a game you pay to play. Awful
Regarding gameplay, seems like people are mostly positive about it, though it looks like is rather simple and there are some cheap 1-hit grabs. Although the focus in melee seems interesting.
Sounds like the game probably is garbage and quite frankly OP, you kind of sound like a shill or you really want someone to play with you at what looks like a dead game. Hell, the micro-transactions and all the bullshit surrounding it pretty much guarantee that is not worth buying and probably would work better either as a F2P or just get rid of that bullshit. Still, at least there is a free demo so we can attest for ourselves the quality of the game itself.

Tried the game. The tutorial, first mission and a mission that was unlocked for 2 hours. Only Solo mode.
So far, the game is, at best, ok if not mediocre. It seems to do better the RPG/Shooter than boderlands by virtue alone of giving each character significant stats differences and making their skills actually useful if a little boring, although that is not saying much. The game controls well, and I would say that, although simple, the melee is nice. The game does encourage you to play aggressively. I like the style. Is bad, but it is so fucking edgy and over the top that it kinds of work for me, like it was done by some edgy teenager. Is stupid, but I like it. There is some kind of aggro system, and you can even play somewhat stealthy, with some characters actually being specialized on it.
The two missions I played though, painfully bad. The enemies themselves were nothing special, with exception of the elite enemies that can fight back in melee. The objectives are boring and there is not a sense of excitement on them. The game also feels slow, and the sprint and cover mechanics are awkward to use. Being limited to one single weapon for character and the card system gives it a MOBA feel, which I don't like. Also the missions themselves are kind of short and small, and the levels themselves are nothing to write home about.
I would say, it feels like a F2P game. It probably should be. I'm fucking retarded though, so I'll probably still try it out a bit more to see if my opinion changes.

The thing about the cannon fodder enemies are just their numbers. They can get annoying on harder difficulties because they can also melee you. And it hurts.
The thing about the weapons is that the difference between the ones available is significant, but get the weapons is kind of counter productive. You need the blue print, you will get by finishing a level. After that, you need gold. And you must choose which you will get at tge end of a level. It's interesting.

You know, I think it could be had been interesting, and I think it makes sense. Most bosses are gigantic, and they are mostly alien life forms. Exactly the kind of thing Samus used to work with. The game do have some passion, but why would they chose the almost F2P model for the game is beyond me. It could had been a cool coop focused game, crazy monsters and simple missions, hell, maybe even a simple PvP, with local matches too. And, in that world, healing is not a problem because every character is abusing a thing called Aleph, that basically is a natural "Extremis mutagen", from Marvel comics.
