The whole thing reminds me of The Palace chat client that was popular.. like 20 years ago. It was effectively the same thing, minus the youtuber culture and voice chat. A lot of the popular servers were full of normalfags and middle aged men looking to cyber, but the good servers were full of weebs who'd edit Chrono Trigger sprites into DBZ characters and get into RP fights.
If the VR element was removed, this could be potentially interesting. The thing clearly runs more stable than second life and allows for all kinds of customization and user-made content. Since it requires VR, it's doomed to be a fleeting meme, where youtubers waste hours painstakingly scouring for meme-worthy content that will offer them a pittance of views and likes.

So instead of just going to someplace like Amazon and clicking on a music CD to purchase it… you'd have a virtual store you could walk around in and pick up virtual representations of the CDs, then take them to a virtual store clerk for checkout. Or your personal website would literally be a house you could design.
I can't remember the name of it, but I'm pretty sure the concept ended up getting spun off into Playstation Home after Second Life started to become a phenomena, since they had absolutely zero luck trying to push it as a new internet standard. That sounds cool, but I probably wouldn't boot up my VR headset to purchase music. Even if I was already in VR I'd probably just have a popup webpage in front of me anyway. The personal website/home thing would be a big hit though. It was cool, in concept. The execution was terrible though. VR wasn't even a consideration. It was like having a Quake III level as a webpage, which made everything a pain in the ass to virtually walk to as a way to mimic physical space, webpages took for-goddamned-ever to load since most people outside of major cities were still on 56k dial-up at the time, and there wasn't a good way to search for these kinds of websites. You had to know the URL beforehand. Plus you run into a lot of the same problems with adoption into the general market that you get with games - namely overly complex controls necessary to navigate a 3D space compared to the relative simplicity of just point and clicking with a mouse. Never mind how they'd manage to represent all those people who go to a website simultaneously. Imagine the toll on your hardware if you walk up to a virtual ticketmaster counter to buy a concert ticket, and it's just a massive blob of character models clipping into an amorphous mass as 10,000 people are trying to check out the same time you are. I'm sure they'd have a way to cull other users from being rendered on local machines so as not to tax hardware and bandwidth too much, but that'd kill the social aspect of web browsing that was being envisioned. Either that, or you'd end up having to run your e-shop like an online game with matchmaking servers.
