Description:
"Experienced stalkers describe this semi-legendary beast as a tall, hunched humanoid with a mess of tentacles where its mouth should be. According to those who saw it and lived to tell the tale, the creature uses its tentacles to cling to the victim's throat, paralyze it, and suck it dry of blood. A dry, mummified shell is all that's left of what used to be a living human being. The most astounding feature of the Bloodsucker, however, is its ability to become invisible. Countless dead or missing stalkers are said to have perished in the merciless grip of a Bloodsucker. The lucky few who have survived an encounter tell spine-chilling tales of marshes and subterranean areas haunted by the Zone's version of Count Dracula."

•Basic characteristics:
Krovosos or Bloodsuckers are ground-dwelling, predominantly carnivorous nocturnal humanoids that inhabit the deeper areas of The Zone, mostly making lairs in it's tunnels and abandoned facilities in which they dwell in groups known as "families" while resting or storing their kill for later consumption. Recent test have proved that the Bloodsucker's DNA is highly similar to that of humans, ranging from 95-99% depending on what is counted, and they are the next closest living relatives to humans after snorks, burers and controllers. Because of this discoveries and their physical chacarteristics bloodsuckers have been calsified as primates.
This mutants most notable characteristics are it's optic camouflage which allows them to temporarily become almost invisible to the naked eye and the four tentacles protuding from it's jaw that they use to feed, characteristics on which this document will elaborate more on a later sub-section.
Bloodsuckers move around by walking and running bypedally. Adult specimens weight from 85 to 110 kg (187-242 lb) and have been measured from 1.8 to 2 m (5ft 9in to 6ft 5in) tall, with an arm span that stretches from 1.4 to 1.6 m (4ft 5in to 5ft 2in). They have huge hands with long fingers that end in extremely sharp claws and a very muscular frame. Their fibrous muscles and huge hearth and lungs allow them both great endurance and physical strength.
It is believed that this creature's lifespan ranges between 35 and 40 years and they reach sexual madurity when they are 4 years old. Oldest bloodsuckers are more darkly coloured and more resiliant that their younger counterparts, both being coloured on diferent shades of brown and gray while the swamp variety's skin has a light gray colour with patches of greenish brown. Both varieties skin is similar to that of a human, being soft to the touch but covered in some parts by thick, darker fur in their outer layer. Another characteristic of the bloodsucker's skin is it's extreme reaction high temperatures due to the lack of enough sweat glands to serve as a cooling mechanism. The bloodsucker's skin temperature tends to raise at alarming speeds and the creature needs to retreat to it's nest to cool down.
Like humans, bloodsuckers have individual finger prints. Their eye colour ranges from almost completly white to diferent shades of gray, some specimen's eyes are framed by a green or brigth orange ring around the iris.
Studies have shown bloodsucker blood is not reactive to anti-A and anti-B monoclonal antibodies, which would, in humans, indicate type O blood. Due to novel sequences, though, it is different enough to not conform with the human ABO blood group system, into which the other apes fit.
Bloodsucker's heart have an un unstudied ability - its secrete special enzymes which halt the coagulation process caused by incompatible blood types. Thanks to that, clotting does not occur even if the blood groups are different. Studies on how this mechanism works are still being conducted by specialists in and outside the Zone.
