What is your ideal ratio of first run content to NG+ to postgame, and do you prefer the "True Ending" of the game to be after NG+ and/or postgame or do you prefer "postgame" content to be accessible regardless of what ending you get?

I wanna see a linear as fuck game become open world after the ending

Dark Souls 3.

Nah, even more linear, like a corridor shooter or point and click

Prey(2017), though I guess it doesn't wait for you to finish the game entirely per se before opening the world up.

I kept seeing the open world tag for it, but it looked about as open as a Bioshock game

OP it depends on the type of game and how well the story line was planned out. Some types of games don't play out well with more then one. Some games don't have storylines that would work with multiple endings like with mass effect 3.

Undertale is how you do multiple endings the right way in my opinion. Which is to say NG/first run, then first ending, then postgame, then true ending, then NG+.

Man that would be awful. Open world games are renowned for having fuckall mountains of NOTHING in their everything, and then some keyspots. It takes a lot of effort to make something big enough to be considered "open world" in first place.

The big pile of nothing is going to grow even bigger.

>NG+

Depends what changes in NG+, what carries over (if anything).

Tangentially related but can anyone name some games that seem like they're about to finish, then it turns out you're only a fraction of the way through the game? The two that got me the most with this were Okami and Steamworld Heist, Okami seemed like it was going to end after Oroshi and the zoned map made me think SW:H only had the junker zone. The feeling when you're kind of sad that a game is over then it turns out it's got 3 or 4 times more content is fucking amazing.

I was filled with a sense of pride and sadness when MGSV's first chapter ended. Completely unknown to me that the second chapter was about to begin.

When Miller completed his speech I felt like a little boy opening his Christmas presents. I couldn't wait to see what lied ahead.

"Holy shit, there is another chapter!!!" I thought.

Little did I know that the chapter ahead was actually missing. Konami will be punished.

Rune Factory 4. I got the Credits to roll at least three times and I still didn't 100% the game.

c9876d No.14026806

I'd like more games to have the persona/atelier timed route where there's a lot of content and it's difficult (though possible) to see it all in a single playthrough.

Then afterwards I'd like NG+ to provide additional events, locations, dungeons, bosses and an optional boss or two.

The first ending you see should be the canon one, but NG+ should add some extra scenes to that.

Bravely Default did this, but did it in the worst way possible by doing it multiple times.

Any games that have a normal ending, then a NG+ specific ending, then a true ending after that, either in NG++ or a place that's only opened after getting the other endings? Not exactly like EYE where you have a branching path to the other endings from the start and loop to get the others, but unlocking endings that can only be achieved on subsequent playthroughs.
