I had a copy of Monkey Island 2 as a kid and I couldn't get past the startup anti piracy minigame.

Every time I hear the Genesis versions of the Ice Cap and Launch Base zones from Sonic 3 I feel like a fish out of water because I played the PC version.

I remember playing a 1 of a 100 billion games and it had super mario bros 3, too bad I wasn't that much of a pro gamer back then.

Rather ingenious.

3d video games suddenly became a thing when the Nintendo 64 became super popular. One of my friends bought one along with Mario Kart 64. I came over the next day and watched him play the first track. He got by just fine and handed me the controller to do the cow farm level. I never fucking touched an analog ever before in my life. I turn a sharp right at the start of the race and found myself driving directly into the fence. Not letting go of the gas, but still not advancing anywhere.

That, gentleman, was my proud first foray into 3d gaming.

I personally never got one until 2009 or so at the earliest. Imagine trying to read the font in Dead Rising or Nuts and Bolts on a ~20 inch Phillips from like 1996.
