So, /v/, I've run into a problem. A few months ago, my office chair finally kicked the bucket. It was pretty decent, but all in all, I wasn't that happy with it. Not super comfortable for gaming, or just long hours on the computer as a whole.

I was planning to get something a bit higher-end than my usual thrift-store jazz, but it seems like information on what's actually "good" is rather conflicting. Unfortunately, time's running out, as my current replacement is a folding lawn chair not designed in the slightest for extended use, and so has torn to absolute shreds. Though, hilariously, while it lasted, it was actually better than the old one.

TL;DR, where can I find a good chair?

I got so scared of the asspiston thing when I was little I have used a wooden kitchen chair since. My ass is hardened, calloused at this point.

You poor, pour soul.

From what I understand, so long as you do not buy a cheap shit chair, you're good. Chinese trash should always be avoided. Otherwise, the chairs ought to have a safety, essentially, on the lot that prevents extreme pressure or whatever. 'Least, that's what I've been told.

I don't really care about the piston that much, anyway. I'm too tall to ever adjust my chair to a specific point. I just want it to be at the max height.

When there's no chairs left and everyone is screaming and bleeding from sitting on tree bark and gravel and stuff I'll have the last laugh with my steel ass.

One day you'll sit on an actually good chair, and weep tears of sorrow at all the time you've missed sitting comfortably.

Whatever you do, don't get one of those cringeworthy gamer chairs like in your image, they're the gaming headsets of seating. Just get a decent ergonomic office chair, they're designed to be as comfortable and good for your spine as possible so that businesses can avoid getting sued by their employees. They're good becuase the design is based on fear of legal action and not nerd cred.

You shouldn't need to spend more than $100 or so to get an okay one.

>buying gaming-anything

Retardation.

Fuck, I have a hard time even buying components advertised to 'gamers'. Graphics cards are probably the worst offender to me in this category. Anything with fancy edges and neon colors, with LEDs strewn about automatically makes me cringe.

I have one of these.

Pros:

- Metal frame that is rated for 330 lbs, so even fat fucks can have something to sit in

- Adjustable seat that can recline anywhere between 180 - 90 degrees

- Polyurethane leather is quite comfortable

- Adjustable back rest and head rest cushions are comfortable

- Appealing modest design (if you get solid black, it looks like a normal office chair)

Cons:

- The adjustable arm rests can be easily moved out of the intended position, and they cannot be removed

- Not made for moving about; you can easily fall over if you try to use your legs to propel yourself forward across anything that isn't a hard and smooth floor

- Very creaky, makes a lot of noise (nothing you can't fix with some lubricating oil)

If you're dead set on getting a "gaming chair" you could do a lot worse than this. Otherwise, if you have the money for it, you're better off getting a quality office chair

Looking at the picture, I think my biggest issue would be the concave cushion design. I have rather broad shoulders, on top of being tall. Far too often, I sit in something like that, I end up with my shoulders squished and not a whole lot of movement.

Though, I will say, I do like the design.

Is a metal frame really that much better? My old chair had a wooden frame, and that seemed to last quite well, without any issue, despite some fairly rough use. Meanwhile, the one I had before it had completely bent over time, giving me a very unpleasant tilt toward the left when sitting.

Might be more due to being a cheap Chinese trashheap I got from Walmart, though.
