The gunplay (at the time) was the best in the series; although I think the stealth portions were kind of lacking. Not enough memorable environments and some areas are just too open and not as tightly built. I can definitely see how the sheer amount of cutscenes would piss people off, but replaying the game and experimenting with different tactics and getting good on higher difficulties was great.
