Sort of, the messages from Demon's Souls are based on a sprite from Shadow Tower, it was essentially the same characters, and there were areas where rituals were conducted with dismembered parts.
I don't know how excited I would be about seeing a post-Souls FromSoft work on Shadow Tower 3 but I would be pleased to see it, I think it's a really unexplored concept. The basic idea is that the Shadow Tower rises in different time periods, so ST1 is more medieval and Abyss was implied to take place maybe sometime in the 1950s.

Well, especially since Abyss did such fucking cool things with the first-person combat, I'd argue for the first time in that style of game. I loved the multi-directional weapon swinging and the way limb dismemberment affected the enemy behavior. It would be a shame to give that all up just so they could stick to the third-person gameplay they've become known for. More than anything I think I'd be excited for ST3 to give them an excuse to return to DeS' hub-level setup, I still can't believe that BB didn't bring that back.
