That's really a non-issue if you're playing Vanilla WoW. Quests that really benefit from this were commonly skipped over, and even with the lessened XP of a party, less XP is better than none at all. It is the ultimate weapon for shamans. Since it is a slow mace the damange range is very high, giving windfury procs massive damage. You also must understand HoR is a very rare item very few people had. It made no sense for a guild to spend so much time to build it on someone who could not utilize it properly. For PvE it adds a lot of numbers but the weapon shined most in PvP as it allowed shamans to have a chance to instantly kill cloth users.

Warriors had a better PvP option with storm herald which gave a chance to stun, which was paired with mace specialization.

DPS paladins did not exist in classic wow.

Sulfuras is given to hybrids largely because it's replaced come BWL for either fury or arms and during the time MC is even relevant it's only slightly better than the other weapons off Rag.

Autism explanation

Numerically speaking it's worse for Orcs due to the axe racial. For any server that's remotely blizzlike, weapon skill is the single strongest attribute your melee character can have. Sulfuras is slightly better than the other MC level options for the other horde races, but mace specialization is literally worthless in raid environments (Arms itself is inferior to fury due to the raw power of the flurry talent, but the mortal strike effect comes in useful and the content itself isn't hard enough to require minmaxing), sword or axe spec essentially close the gap between Sulfuras and Spinal Reaper / Bonereaver's edge.

For alliance Sulfuras is a solid 2 hand fury weapon for humans, again due to mace skill, but because of the lack of windfury totem, 2 hand fury loses out to dual wield fury come BWL giving the weapon only a tier of usefulness.

Once BWL hits, most warriors transition to dual wield fury, only horde has the ability to run 2 handed fury with comparable numbers until aq40 where it falls behind forever. This is mostly due to how overpowered edgemaster's gauntlets are, the weapon skill on them being so powerful that they won't ever be replaced for the entirely of classic.

For pvp Sulfuras is a decent warrior weapon, but since mace spec is generally considered the weakest of all the weapon specializations in pvp, it becomes outclassed as soon as BWL comes around which has two decent swords and an axe.

Another important thing about Sulfuras is how the weapon proc interacts with the hybrid class self procs like windfury and SoC. Windfury originally used to be able to fire off just about any ability, including Sulfuras which gave shamans the small but possible chance to one shot any class in the game due to repeated proc chains. This was changed repeatedly, as of the end of vanilla windfury couldn't chain off itself and didn't fire off weapon procs. For paladins SoC could trigger off of any proc throughout the entire duration of classic. It wasn't uncommon to see paladins using fiery weapon or lifesteal on raid weapons due to the 1 shot pvp potential. It was much less likely to occur than shaman, which is probably why it wasn't changed. Weapons without procs were always strictly inferior to weapons with them for hybrids, which is why they get high priority for Sulfuras. Neither ret nor enhancement were ever any useful for raiding though compared to their healing specs, as their threat modifier was so high as to make them pull aggro while doing significantly less damage than other classes.

In my experience there are more people from the thread on horde than on alliance.

Leveling up together would be really fun in this game since quest loot is shared, we could push through quests twice as fast and do things together. I just wish I had a buddy instead of solo'ing these quests in Razor Hill area.

There's a few up, the one im in seems kinda set for a hardcore run in the future for raiding. But they're taking anyone they can get since it's still low pop. But i'd still stick around for questing. Bumping this thread. Great server with an even better community, but desperately needs more people. Basically a tiny white ethnostate with a dangerously low birthrate.
