It's great that most PS3 slims are now able to run CFW but aren't half of the PS3 games worth playing PS2 remasters?

Which games you wanted remastered never got a re-release? Do you think the original release is the better version in all cases?

7384a8 No.13881372

There's lots of PS3 games that are worth playing that aren't HD port/remasters.

>Which games you wanted remastered never got a re-release?

DQ8 would be cool.

>Do you think the original release is the better version in all cases?

the more I think about it, yes. I don't consider increased resolution a benefit, more a neutral thing that is necessary for adapting to newer displays. Some of them have benefits like redone assets in things like FFXHD, but I ultimately value the creators vision more than smoother heads and more detail in art that was created because the original wouldn't look nice all high resolution.

Are Megaman X collection and Persona 3 FES worth my money, or are they better on other systems?

>but aren't half of the PS3 games worth playing PS2 remasters?

No, and the quality of the "HD" rereleases varies a good bit, with some being pretty decent, some being shit (or having been shit, in the case of the now patched ZoE2 HD), and some more or less average, with some graphical glitchiness here and there. In addition, most of the games selected for that treatment were popular, common games, as opposed to harder to find games that could have benefitted from another day in the limelight (and in the case of the Yakuza collection, that was left JP only).

>Which games you wanted remastered never got a re-release?

There's a number I wish got at least PSN ports, or competent collections, but that's more on combatting aftermarket scalper prices than thinking the games could stand to look better, or whatever.

Far as I know, X Collection is better on the Gamecube, but that one's pretty expensive, even by Gamecube standards (think last I saw was $60+ where I live), and I seem to recall some people saying the original releases of the included games were still superior, though I could be remembering wrong (actually not real experienced with Mega Man). As for Persona 3, I know FES is considered superior to base P3 (I'll admit that the original release has a better cover art than FES though), but from what I know it's debatable as to whether FES or P3P is better, as both have their pros and cons. For whatever reason, Atlus has yet to make a version combining the benefits of both into an ultimate release, or whatever you might call it (similar to how there is yet to be a version of Tales of Symphonia with the PS2's additional content but the better shadowing and combat framerate of the Gamecube original).

>Are Megaman X collection

No, considering you can emulate all the games on it for free with no issues.

Speaking of PS2s, I recently got my memory card hooked up with FMCB, but I'm having trouble getting discs to read. I'm using the ESR patcher 0.24a and have DVD+R discs, which is why I'm asking to make sure. What programs should I use to burn images onto the discs to make sure they'll work? I keep reading either alcohol 120% or Imgburn, but when I use alcohol, it crashes on me. I'm nervous about IMGburn too. Any tips?

>P3 FES

One of the worst JRPGs I've ever played, but you know what you're getting yourself into, so you can decide on that. If you're going to play any version, it should be that one.

>X collection

If you can get it for under 20 bucks, sure. It has everything up to X6, I believe. Wouldn't mind having a copy, myself.

The very first slims can be modded to use a hard drive.

da2038 No.13886721

Is there a good recent guide to putting CFW on my PS2? I keep finding conflicting reports on whether you can install FMCB without purchasing a pre-modded memory card or using a chip to install it via burned disk.

I just want to remove the region lock and play game ISOs off an HDD.

What do I need?

P3P is actually enjoyable to an extent compared to the original.

If you have an IDE hdd, network adapter, and a fat PS2 the easiest way is to just write the softmod to the hdd using a computer.

This guy does it in the video. He ends up booting free mcboot from a memory card in the end but you can just use the hard drive if you wish.
