/v/ - Video Games

I've only played Ahriman's Gift (got it from some magazine back in the day) and I really liked it. It's different than most rts games so you know, there isn't really a reason not to try it. I remember having fun, and in the end that's what matters.

Play some more, stop fishing for appro/v/al and for the love of god fix your formatting.

Kohan was good for its time. Never got into it though. No clue on what people feel about the second one.

One thing I like about Kohan is the variety of heroes in skirmish mode. There's something for everyone really. You can build a squad of ass-kicking Engineer units if you attach them an Engineer hero. The city micro-managing is pretty simple and is built around each producing units of a certain type based on what buildings are in it. The game does encourage city spam that way.

The second one is still entertaining but clearly inferior to the original. It simplified and stripped down a few mechanics for no real reason. For example, there's no such thing as zone of population to control where you can settle. Instead there's just designated spots on the map where you can build settlements.

One thing I did like about Kohan 2 was the variety of races.

It's rather simple, but fun to play. If I remember right, all you need is one or two melee squads, and all the rest could be ranged. One cavalry if you need to chase shit or move around quickly.

I only ever played a demo of it years ago but recall thinking the units were fairly interesting.

It's fucking great.
