It's "remaking for the sake of remaking it". You know how you see those way dope pictures on pixiv that either use a completely different art style or try to stay as on point to the original source as possible, the two extremes of the artistic spectrum? On places like tumblr you'll only see "anime lite". Anime/Manga drawings with a few details that are clearly more relevant in Western art, i.e. an emphasis on NOSES and body proportions. Nips probably don't care about those as much as making characters colorful because they're pretty much all the same person let's be honest.
Also tumblr artstyle is very off. Most times you'll notice how it's all very anatomically incorrect, or how the weights and rules of physics that applied to the original get dropped entirely for the sake of a consistent yet bad physics that adheres to no universe in particular. Also, all their art has this sketchy feeling, as in either the artist has learnt how to draw by copying others and getting marginally better, or they're attending art school but with the only drive to actually make animesque instead of learning the crafts first. Look how all of the pictures that guy's posted are "incomplete" (blatant extra lines to avoid having details, no shadows or extremely simple ones that don't adhere to an actual light source, three-quarters are the only thing that doesn't look like shit, coloring outside the lines, backgrounds that are completely dissonant or non existent compared to the main art style etc.). This is even before going into the details about how they're changing the anatomy of the characters without also changing how they're posing, as well as the extra diversity politics shoved into them.
And it's not even like ALL of them are bad, but this "tumblr redraws" movement is really something. The thing is that the still to be redrawn should be "reimagined" in a way that fits the artists' style and how he remembers or wants to remember that scene. It mostly fails with tumblrettes because, for one thing, they have no coherent style, and for the other most of the time they haven't even watched the things they claim to like, meaning that they don't understand the weight of a scene or just why a certain character was drawn like that in the first place. Some video games offer romance options. Here are some of my choices over the years.
If there's one thing I noticed between East vs West game romances, it's that the East's anime style often makes all of the girls aesthetically pleasing and cute to look at. Like even though Tifa and Chie are my personal #1 picks, the other choices available (Aerith, Naoto, Rise, and Yukiko) were still very cute in their own right.
In the west however, they tend to make em look more… "realistic"… or just plain fucking ugly. And I often find myself having to pick the *ahem* Least Cancerous option. Choices with personalities that don't make me wanna blow my brains out.

There's a long form style documentary video on youtube that explains the history of modern art, why art critics and dealers love it (it's cheap and quick to make), how the art world has become dismissive of people with actual skill, why modern art is bad (read this little text blurb to know what to feel) etc. It's really fucking good. I remember it being at least an hour, maybe two long. I used to bring it out whenever this topic came up because it was a complete tear down of the modern art world. It even had a section at the end which pointed out that good artists in the modern world are nearly all amateurs who can't get into galleries and how artistic skill is being lost over successive generations.
Does anyone know what I'm talking about? I cannot for the life of me find it. I remember it being in multiple parts. I think it was just made by some random youtuber. If anyone has a link to it please post it here as I'd love to watch it again.
It just completely demolishes the modern art movement and gets really sad towards the end as it showcases brilliant masterful artists who have to go to local art enthusiast meetups to display their work because the galleries and museums are all full of kids who can't draw but are good at making up little blurbs to explain what their art is supposed to mean.
